Grilled Brown Sugar Pork Chops

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2009
delish! fantastic recipe. thank you! i made it exactly as stated. makes a lot of marinade, more than necessary for 6 pork chops. could probably halve it, or save the left over for chicken in a couple days! i did have to add more cornstarch to thicken it up more, but thats the only change. enjoy!

Frosted Banana Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2009
fantastic!! the only thing i changed was the frosting - i made my own cream cheese frosting. but the recipe is absolutely delicious and addicting. the only thing i will change next time is decreasing the sugar to 3/4c. or 1 c. it didnt seem like too much sugar, but i know it's not all necessary, esp. with the frosting. thanks so much for the recipe!

Caramel Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2009
loved this recipe. i made it as is and the presentation and flavors were great! the only thing that didnt work for me: after i put the apples on the pork chops, there was hardly and sauce left in the pan. so i just made the sauce again (butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg) and let it thicken a bit then poured this over the pork chops/apples. thanks for much for the recipe!!

Easy Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2009
great flavor and i love that it doesnt use eggs! i made the recipe exactly as stated. it just had a hint of mint. i am not a big mint lover, but i think i may add a little more peppermint next time (maybe 1/2 tsp.). didnt taste too sugary either, although i think decreasing it to at least 3/4 c. or even 1/2 c. wouldnt hurt it one bit either. this recipe would be great with chopped andes mints instead of the chocolate chips. one thing i have to say about this recipe is that it did have alot of chocolate chips. i was trying to give my 1 year old some without any chocolate chips and i was hard pressed getting some ice cream without getting the chips too. next time i am going to reduce the choc. chips to 1/2 c. fantastic recipe! thank you update: i made this with 1 cup whole milk and 1 cup skim milk, 1 cup chopped mint oreos, and 3/4 cup of sugar. yum yum! next time i will add even less sugar and maybe not the whole milk - tasted great the way it was, but it's always good to make it healthier!

Flatlander Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2009
good, basic chili. just the right amount of spice for me (too much for my kids though of course). i would add another 1/2 lb. beef or maybe some sausage to mix it up. thanks.

Cinnamon Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2009
followed recipe exactly. very easy to make! very tasty and different from my traditional vanilla homemade ice cream. i like cinnamon, but not as much as this recipe called for. next time i will try a tsp. less and see how that turns out. and it makes you very thirsty so have a glass of water handy. this ice cream would be great with apple pie! thanks for the recipe. didnt give it 5 stars cos for me personally, it wasnt the "best", but still very good.

Old-Fashioned Scalloped Corn

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
very very good! thanks for the recipe. i followed it exactly. it was a little runny so next time i will add 1/2 package of crushed crackers. taste was obviously still excellent though! i did triple the topping and it was just right.

Cranberry Sauce Extraordinaire

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
I finally found it! been searching for a cranberry sauce recipe for so long and this is the one. i really like canned cranberries, but this is so much better. LOVE LOVE LOVE! i used a small can of drained mandarin oranges (pureed), canned pears (drained and sliced), and welche's dried mixed fruit. perfect! thanks so much for the recipe.

Cranberry-Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
wasnt a big fan of these - company didnt care for them either. i put a powdered sugar/milk frosting on the top of them - wouldnt want them without it. too much going on for me with the nuts, cranberries, and orange zest.

Carrot Cupcakes with White Chocolate Cream Cheese Icing

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2008
first time i made these i used 1/4 c. oil and 1/4 c. applesauce. they oddly turned out extremely oily and sticky...maybe they werent completely cooked. great flavor though. the second time i used 1/2 c. applesauce instead of the oil and they turned out great. i used pre-shredd carrots and if i were to make them again i would still chop the carrots more. the icing is fantastic with the orange flavoring!! i will use that recipe alone for other things. but the batch of frosting makes a ton - you could triple the carrot cupcake part and still have some left over. all in all, it was a great tasting recipe, but i do have to say that there were alot of flavors going on-pineapple, carrot, orange, etc. thank you!!

Chai Tea Mix

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2008
fantastic recipe! i personally think the cardamom makes the chai tea. love the smell of it. i used lite coffee creamer and sugar free french vanilla coffee creamer then used all the sugar the recipe asked for. still very good! next time i will try decreasing the sugar by 1/2 cup. great idea to grind it in a coffee bean grinder. i will be giving this for gifts this fall along with the iced pumpkin cookies from this website!! YUM YUM YUM. thank you!

Strawberry and Feta Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2008
great tasting salad with the strawberries and feta, but i gave it 4 stars because of the oil dressing. not a fan of oil dressings, esp. since it separates from the rest of the ingredients and have to have it in a container that you can always shake before adding it to the salad (i let people put their own dressing on).

Asian Barbequed Steak

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2008
this is now 1 of my 2 top steak marinades that i use! my 4 year old likes steak just fine, but she licked up half of steak with this marinade! very very good! i didnt use fresh ginger root - just used ground and added what i thought looked good (about 1 tsp.). fish sauce about made me sick smelling it, but the result is marvelous. marinaded it the night before and served it the following evening! yum yum yum!

Fruit Dip II

yum! made this recipe as directed and it was good. but then added 1 cup of cool whip and that made it REALLY good. how could it not be when more sweet stuff is added? i used 1/3 less fat cream cheese and light cool whip. perfect! i am looking forward to trying the strawberry cream cheese. thanks for the recipe!

Rhubarb Bread I

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2008
very moist and delicious! i substituted applesauce for the oil and didnt add walnuts. the topping was good, but was wet so i couldnt "sprinkle" it onto the loaves. so when it cooked, it just kinda sunk into the bread and made indentions. good taste, not good appearance. made the recipe again and added more flour to the topping until it was crumbly and it turned out better. but then, this recipe is good even without it! oh, and i double the cinnamon and it wasnt strong at all or real noticeable for that matter. thanks!

Grilled Shrimp Scampi

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2008
i really enjoyed this marinade because it seemed to take the "fishy" taste out that shrimp sometimes have. my husband didnt really notice that they were marinaded, though, until i told him. so the taste isnt overwhelmingly different, but subtly better than just regular shrimp. thanks!!
