Simple Country Ribs

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2009
these were very good, tasty, and not dry at all - but how could they be when spareribs have so much fat! i gave this only 4 stars because i'd make changes if i made this again...reserve some of the bbq sauce for basting, instead of adding water to cover the ribs add broth, apple juice, pineapple juice, or something besides water. because of the water it changes the sauce and even thickening it doesnt make it near as good as it originally was. i did have to bake this in the oven cos of the windstorm we continually have in MN - i put it in a roasting pan, covered it with bbq sauce, covered with the lid, and cooked it at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. another reason i gave it 4 stars is because i personally prefer the "barbeque ribs" recipe by SEEsign on this website. dont get me wrong, the ribs were still very good, just not the best. thanks for the recipe!

Marinated Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2009
this recipe was excellent! i did double the marinade, except for the cinnamon, let it marinade for well over 12 hours, and cooked it for 1 hr. in the oven at 350 degrees. i couldnt taste the cinnamon flavor at all - or at least it wasnt noticeable by any means. the tenderloin was very moist and went great with the ultimate twice baked potatoes on this site. thanks!!!

Banana Pudding IV

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2009
i made this exactly as stated and it was absolutely awesome! i am soooo glad i didnt change it according to all the other reviewers who said to use vanilla and banana pudding. it was wonderful exactly as written. i guess that's why you should always try it first as written. i used lowfat condensed milk, lite coolwhip, 1/3 fat cream cheese. for the milk i cant remember for sure, but i am betting i used skim milk. will make this alot from now on!! thanks for the recipe!

Baked Pineapple Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2009
followed the recipe exactly. i cooked it until the top was slightly browned - over 60 minutes. the casserole was pretty watery (probably with the pineapple juice) at the bottom and it just didnt go over well at our house. i did cover it with foil so i dont know if that contributed to it being loose. i can see how this would be a nice side dish with ham. but for us, probably wont make it again. thanks for the try!

Sugar Glazed Walnuts

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2009
make sure you stir this every minute to keep an eye on it. the first batch i mircowaved for 5 minutes and ruined it. it only took my micro. 4 minutes to cook it. the only thing i would change is maybe to roast the walnuts first in the oven to get rid of some of the raw nut taste, and then do this recipe. these are fantastic on a salad with green apples! thanks for the recipe!

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2009
i gave this 4 stars just because i have another recipe that is much better, but this one is still great! i used shredded carrots and would suggest chopping them up into smaller pieces. instead of 1 1/4 cup vegetable oil, i used part oil and part applesauce. i didnt add any pecans. i think what made this recipe is actually the frosting, which makes it addictive. cake was moist and very good. thanks for the recipe!

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2009
simple recipe and ingredients. i cooked 2 large, frozen chicken breasts for 5 hours on low and it was way too long. probably should have done 4 hours max. the chicken was pretty dry. i think it's a good idea to shred it and stick it back in the sauce for a half an hour before the end of cooking time. the sauce is very good on baked potatoes. thanks!

Mexican Chicken Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2009
very easy and tasty recipe. seems like it could use just a tad bit more spice, so maybe a cup of pepperjack cheese would help. thanks for the recipe!

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2009
good and easy recipe. i had leftover chicken so just diced that and added it to the soup/dressing mixture. i just nuked that in the microwave and put it over some egg noodles. i was worried the italian dressing might not have a chance to meld it's flavor, but it tasted just fine. very creamy. i gave it four stars just because it didnt really wow me. thanks for the recipe!

Buttermilk Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2009
the buttermilk gives this salad a little zip, but i thought it was overall a pretty boring salad with just crushed pineapple. i would add some mandarin oranges and red grapes if i were to make it again. used peach jello. thanks for the recipe.

Blueberry Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2009
great recipe that i will definitely make again. i used 1/2 cup oil and 1/2 cup applesauce and 1 zucchini (which only gave me 1 cup). definitely dont need all the sugar. i would reduce that by half and it still should be great. also, i put it in 2 loaf pans. there were ALOT of blueberries in it so if you arent a huge fan, maybe decrease those. thanks so much for the recipe! my kids ate a whole loaf in one day!

Bubba's Jambalaya

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2009
i didnt add chicken, so i added a little extra of the ham and sausage. the recipe didnt completely cook down - it was still kinda soupy. i did halve the recipe, so maybe that contributed to the reason. the dish was good, but nothing outstanding. i wont make it again cos my family just didnt care for it. i would add a little more seasoning to it though - like old bay or something. seemed like it just needed a little more. a recipe worth a try though. thanks!

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2009
although my cheesecake didnt turn out, i give this a 5 on taste alone. excellent! after an hour in the oven (ina water bath) i turned it off and left it in there for approx. 3.5 hours. it wasnt done. so this recipe is not fool proof. you still have to check the cheesecake and make sure that it is done before you shut the oven off and let it sit. and i believe when this recipe calls for 15 graham crackers, it probably means half of a graham cracker. i used whole graham crackers and had to add more butter. if i did this recipe again i would just put it in a prepared graham cracker crust (2 actually cos it wouldnt fit in 1) cos it's much easier and there is nothing special about the crust in this recipe. i will definitely try this one again...hopefully with better results! thanks!

Apple Butter Pork Loin

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2009
LOVED this recipe. cooked it (2.5 lbs. approx.) in the apple juice for 30 minutes, drained half of the apple juice, and then added the apple butter mixture and cooked for 30 minutes more. wonderful! i drained off the apple juice and added cornstarch to make a gravey to put on top of the meat. thanks so much for the recipe!!

Roasted Vegetables

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2009
i didnt have fresh thyme and i used lemon juice instead of vinegar - those are the only changes i made. great recipe. i checked the veggies at 30 minutes and thought the potatoes were still a tiny bit hard, so i cooked it for 10 minutes more. should've stopped at 30 because the veggies, although they stayed pretty much together, were too mushy for my taste. i would have preferred to have them a little harder. so 30 minutes in my oven wouldve been perfect. thanks for the recipe!
