Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2008
Wow this is good!! I read SO many reviews to make sure that I did this the right way for best flavor. Here's what I did: Used a chuck roast because it was BOGO at grocery store and used a rub of minced garlic, worcestershire garlic and onion powder and pepper on both sides before adding other ingrediants. I also chopped and added an onion with the intention of making french onion soup with the leftovers as other reviewers suggested. I used Icehouse beer because it's what I had on hand. After it cooked on low four hours, I tasted the juice and it seemed a bit bland so I added garlic salt and that did the trick! My husband could not get enough of this and we ate french dip two nights in a row and then I made soup with the leftovers!! Try it, you won't be disappointed. It is a very easy meal to fix and forget :o)

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2008
I read the reviews of Many other cooks and made small changes as recommended: added more ham and potatoes, garlic and onion powder, a dash of red pepper flakes and also cooked broccoli just before serving. I have to agree with firemeyer, this soup is just missing "something" I can't put my finger on it but my DH who usually raves about any dish I cook just gave this four stars. I might make this again, but with much more experimentation with ingredients :-)

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2008
I really enjoyed this recipe. It was even good the next day although a little dried out :) I did as other reviewers suggested and switched up the order of ingredients by putting the sauce on top of the noodles instead of the sour cream mixture. Very good recipe if you are in the mood for Italian!

Ham Potato Scallop

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2008
My husband went crazy over this comfort food!! I highly, highly recommend making the sour cream and onion scalloped potatoes with the ham! I added parmesan cheese to the dish because it seemed like it would go well with the sour cream mixture and I also added onion powder. I topped the potatoes with half of the cheese called for in the recipe and we used the other half to mix into it to help soak up some of the extra liquid that wasn't absorbed into the potatoes. Yum!!

Barbecued Beef Brisket

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2008
I just made the barbeque sauce from this recipe, but it was very easy and flavorful. I think it could use a little more liquid smoke but all in all, it was great! I made this sauce to go with the rub from Busy Day Barbeque Brisket which is also wonderful! Try these two together, you won't be disappointed.

Busy Day Barbeque Brisket

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2008
This is such a yummy and easy rub! I used it on a boston butt and the only thing I would change is to add a little more liquid smoke but other than that it is great! I also used the homeade sauce from the recipe Barbequed Beef Brisket instead of this one for a little more depth :-) It was great too!

Greek-Style Rib Eye Steaks

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2008
All I can say is WOW! This recipe was super easy and so tasty too! I wanted to cook rib eyes without firing up the grill in winter and this was the perfect recipe for me! I didn't change much, just added garlic salt and onion powder and didn't use the olives because we don't like them. Other than that, everything the same. Don't forget the lemon juice! It really adds something that makes it taste very "Greek" :o)

Creamy Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2008
I thought this was pretty good. I did think it needed a stronger chocolate flavor so I added an ounce of melted unsweetened baking chocolate and it helped a little. I used a very high quality cocoa powder but it's a little older so that might have something to do with the chocolate flavor not being very strong.

Charleston Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2008
My family went crazy over this! Hubby always said his mom's breakfast casserole was the best until this recipe. The croutons are the key ingrediant to make this unique! I changed a few things because of what I had on hand and personal preference: Used spicy breakfast sausage instead of bacon and sauteed onions instead of bell pepper, I also added cayenne pepper, onion and garlic powder and totally omitted the melted butter (Promise you dont miss it!) Thanks so much for an awesome recipe!

Cheese Ball I

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2008
This was by far the best cheese ball I've ever made! I halved the recipe for a dinner party and they were scraping the plate clean. I added a few things to the recipe as well:finely chopped green onion, garlic salt, onion powder, a dash of seasoned salt and just a bit of grated cheddar to help hold it all together. Yum! This will be my new & easy standby for parties. Thanks!

Easy Turkey Gravy

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2008
This was really yummy and it's nice to have for a no fail recipe when under pressure from new guests! I would probably say that you should taste it as you go and only add seasoned salt if it's your personal preference. I didn't feel like it needed any more salt but we dont' add a lot most of the time so it could just be my family :-)

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2008
Wow, I didn't know that a turkey could be this easy and still taste so delicious and moist! I added two chopped onions, celery and carrots both inside the turkey and surrounding it in the pan. I also sprinkled sage all over the turkey with the seasoned salt. The only warning I have is that you might want to either reduce the amount of bouillon used or the seasoned salt because this makes Very salty gravy with so much sodium in the broth that cooks out

Microwave Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2008
All I can say is WOW! This was so good & my husband couldnt' get enough. The only changes I made was to add onion and garlic powder when I put the clams in. Yummy! Update: If you are pinched for time, add a large can of 98% fat free clam chowder after the potatoes are done cooking. It's great and with the bacon already in it, might as well cut out a little fat elsewhere!

Sweet Potato Casserole II

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2008
This recipe went over very well with my family for Thanksgiving. I only made a few modifications out of personal preference: I used 1/2 cup white sugar instead of one whole cup since it also has brown sugar and added 1 tsp. cinnamon & 1/2 tsp. nutmeg & 3T. of orange juice.

Creamy Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2007
Similar to one that my family has made for holidays for as long as I can remember! Instead of green onions, we use half a cup of regular onions and we also use cream of celery instead of cream of mushroom. Oh yeah, and top it off with either butter crackers or corn flakes mixed with melted butter. Yum!

Quick and Easy Fruit Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2007
This was really good! I did as another reviewer suggested and added a sprinkle of cinnamon because I served it at a fall themed bridal shower. Try this dip! It's cheaper and more delicious than the pre-made dips at the grocery store!

Pumpkin Cheesecake Bars

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2007
This recipe is SO good!! My family loved it. I can see how the crumbly crust can be a problem so next time (and there will be a next time) I may add another Tablespoon of melted butter to the crust. Note: I used yellow cake mix and baked in a 9 x 13 pan

Super Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2007
Use the "hot" variety of sausage, double the milk and flour because Very thick if not and add finely diced onion, ground sage, a dash of cayanne pepper, plenty of salt and use lots of freshly ground pepper for that southern sausage gravy taste! Yum :-)
