Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2012
I had no issues with hardness (in fact, I found that they crumbled easily.) I did use whole white wheat flour. Delicious and packed with chocolate flavor!

Chickpeas in Tomato Sauce With Feta and Wine

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2011
This is a great vegetarian dish. I doubled the recipe, left out the cheese due to allergies, substituted red wine vinegar, and used fresh tomatoes. I also added half a bag of frozen chopped spinach. Delicious!

Libby's® Pumpkin Cranberry Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2010
Great!!! Substituted half brown sugar for the sugar, and did half the oil to add half cup applesauce. I will be adding more cranberries next time.

Tomutter Pasta

This is a good quick meal for the children -- I upped the butter by two tablespoons and added some garlic and onion powder. A dash of Parmesan cheese is good too.

Turnip Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2010
I had five turnips on hand, so I increased the turnips and also reduced the sugar to 1/4 cup. This is an interesting variation that makes a nice change from our usual turnips and bacon dish. Husband asked that I make it "occasionally".

Blueberry Pound Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2010
This is a great dense and moist pound cake that I can imagine would work well with other berries (I used frozen blueberries this time.) I added a few teaspoons of lemon juice to compliment the blueberries, and I think I will add more next time. The sugar lined pan didn't add much if anything -- next time I may leave it out. All in all, a great pound cake and I will be using again!

Runza Burgers

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2010
I did not have beef broth so I used water instead. I also used a rather large head of cabbage. My husband cannot eat gluten, so we ate this plain -- and loved it! Next time I will try to use beef broth and more meat (or perhaps less cabbage). The barbecue-ish smell (the simmering combined mustard and Worcestershire sauce smelled fantastic!) inspired us to add a touch of ketchup on top. We couldn't stop eating it!

I have made this with half a pound of sausage links, thinly sliced. I also used olive oil instead of water. Very good!!

Black Bean Brownies

After reading the reviews, I was optimistic about this recipe, but I was very disappointed with my own results. It was not near chocolatey enough and the texture was terrible. It really needs some cheweyness to make it bearable.. as it is, I won't be making it again!!

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2008
I've had some trouble with this recipe, and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. The waterbath helps me little -- sometimes I end up with just a tiny crack, other times it's as deep and wide as the Grand Canyon. The last time I tried cooking it slower (and longer) it ended up being an underdone soupy mess. I just keep making it, though, because the flavor is FANTASTIC.

A little different, but good. The only problem is cooking the apples long enough but not overcooking the cheesecake... I had to settle for slightly crunchy apples.

Sausage Bean Stew

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2008
With some changes, this has become one of those dinners that everyone loves on a cold evening. I substitute red beans and kidney beans for the lima and great northern beans. I also add a dash of chili powder, oregano, garlic, and cayenne for a little more flavor. Steaming cornbread on the side tops off this fantastic comfort food!

Cream Cheese Pound Cake III

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2008
I'm really dissatisfied with how the texture turned out on this, but I'm pretty sure that's my own fault for putting in too many eggs at once while distracted on the phone. But not only that, the flavor turned out rather disappointing too... will be making again to make sure it wasn't something I did, but in the meantime I'm rating this a rather average pound cake.
