Aunt Bev's Glorified Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2010
This is a great sandwich. Very filling. I used whole grain white instead of the Italian, since I didn't have that on hand. Wow, filling!

Kansas Tomato Sandwich

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2010
An old time favorite! A great way to use up some of those tomatoes out of the garden. I do prefer using mayo over the butter, though.

Slow Cooker Macaroni and Cheese I

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2010
I was disappointed this wasn't creamier than I what I thought it would be. I made this per instructions, too. It was fairly dry. I used a 3 qt oblong slow cooker and only cooked this for 3 hours on LOW. It was slightly starting to burn on the bottom. It tasted good but I've had better. I like a personal mac n cheese recipe I have for the slow cooker much, much better.

Delicious Chicken Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2010
This is an easy casserole to put together. The only change I made was to use cream of celery. I don't care at all for cream of chicken. Next time I make it I will definitely add peas to the casserole.

Cucumber Tomato Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2010
This is a good tomato salad. The only change I made was to use red onion since my green onion didn't look healthy. It was a simple but delicious salad.

Chicken with Stuffing

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2010
We really enjoyed this. I made this as written, except, I started out with frozen breasts. I cooked on LOW for 4 1/2 hours and the chicken was tender and perfect. I was a little leary that there wasn't enough liquid for the stuffing, but it turned out really well. Thanks for the recipe!

Mexican Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2010
We both enjoyed this. Easy to put together. The only change I made was to almost triple the chicken. One breast in a casserole wasn't going to work for us. Before I put it in the baking dish I saw that a 7x11 dish would work well. It filled the dish about halfway. Glad I didn't use the 9x13. The only other change was to add sour cream. We like that with a lot of our Mexican dishes.

Pork Chops with Blue Cheese Gravy

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2010
This was wonderful. We loved the gravy. I make pork chops covered so they come out more tender. These chops were 1 inch thick and I was impressed how tender they came out. I don't usually have such thick ones. The gravy was delicious. A taste of its own. I wonder why it came out so brown, though. When I need to make brown sauce/gravy it always turns out white. When I want white it always turns out browner. We'll be doing this one again!

Mom's Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2010
Delicious! I took Shawna's advice and cut down on the mayo and sugar and used apple cider vinegar. Thanks for a great recipe!

Cinnamon Toast

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2010
As kids we grew up on this. I've never gotten tired of it. Mom used to cut it up one slice into 4 strips so it would be easier to eat when we were so young. It would go farther that way, too, for the 4 of us until she could make 2 more slices.

Meat Lover's Pizza Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2010
Was easy to make. I used a 7x11 dish for this and it fit perfectly. I made as written except I added about 8 oz of fresh mushrooms. I like them on my pizza. I also made the Easy Pizza Sauce I from this site and used that. It made 2 cups and I used it all. Instead of mixing all the mozzarella in I only used half of it and then topped it with the rest. I also covered it which helped it from drying out. Was a little bland.

Basic Ham and Bean Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2010
Very good. I made this in a 5 qt crockpot. I subbed chicken broth for the water. I didn't use quite 8 cups. I did put the beans on the stove for about 45 minutes. Added everything to the crockpot and let it go on LOW for about 7 hours. I let it cool down and put it in the fridge. It was a lot more runny than what I would have liked. The next day I skimmed the fat off and put it back on LOW (after it sat out for a bit) for a few hours. It wasn't as runny (or soupy) at all the next day. And it was delicious!

Colorful Seafood Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2010
If you like this kind of salad you'll like this. I liked the crunch of the peas and celery in this. It was easy to put together. I don't like Splenda so I used a Tbsp of sugar, a teaspoon at a time, and taste testing as I added it. I also used a 12 oz bag of pasta instead of the 8 oz. Thanks for the post!

If you like chocolate you should definitely like this. It was easy and tasted darned good, too! There was plenty to frost 2 9 inch cakes. No skimping here. Made as written.

Italian Style Flounder

This was great. I usually make it like this but never used garlic powder or added tomato to it. It had a wonderful flavor and I'll do this one again.

Easy Cucumber Salad

Yes, easy it is. I much preferred 'chopping' cucumber than slicing it. Went faster. Made this as is and it's a keeper.

The Best Bean and Ham Soup

Reviewed: May 24, 2010
Very good. I did this in a 5 qt crockpot. Basically made it as written except I didn't add Chili Powder, not a fan of it. After I added 3 cans of Vegetable broth there was no room to add the Chicken broth so that was eliminated. I let it cook on Low for about 8 hours. I did soak the beans first over the stove but not overnight. Will make this again.
