Being retired I'm lucky to have this time to do all the things listed below. They keep my spirits up and I'm never bored. The computer has added so much enjoyment to my life and I'm always surprised each day what I learn or what I've participated in that brings so much happiness. The friends I've made on line are treasured and I enjoy meeting people from all over the world and learning about their cultures. Finding humor in all things is a great help to face each day.
My favorite things to cook
Love to cook "diner food" such as meatloaf , mashed potatoes and yeast rolls, salads.
also USA southern soul food. Italian cooking from my paternal side of the family. Experiment with anything that comes to mind. Right now trying some East Indian cooking with the many spices. What fun finding some new tastes to surprise us and keep the dining table interesting.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I like to remember my late relatives by cooking something they prepared when I would visit them. Thinking of the good times we had while we ate their wonderful meals together. One was corn pudding that had a light airy texture, Italian meatballs that were very tiny and a delicious tomato sauce over very thin pasta. Apple pie with the scent of allspice and other spices in a very flaky crust.
My cooking triumphs
Cornish hens with a duck sauce glaze.
Mini corned beef sandwiches, layered frozen yogurt French vanilla with fresh peaches and blueberries and whipped creme. Corn pones that go along with collard greens. Candied sweet potatoes with pineapple and spices.
My cooking tragedies
I know I've had some but lately putting too much salt in the food. Hand and mind not connected!
