Doughnut Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2007
Just tasted like very sweet white cake, not doughnuts. Consistency was ok but bland and not worth the calories and fat!

Butter Tart Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2004
Extremly flavorful...and don;t ferget the syrop! I altered these for my diabetic husband by substituting the 3/4 cup sugar with 1/2 cup Splenda and used ED Smith Sugar Free Maple Syrop.

Biscotti Toscani

Made these at Christmas and gave as gifts in nice tins. Everyone loved them! A little tricky to cut but well worth the effort.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2001
Doubled the batch and used 9X13 pan and added only 5 more minutes to baking time. Moist, sweet and chocolatey even without topping. DO NOT OVERCOOK. Very easy and so much better than the box.

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2001
Followed directions yet it cracked very badly, which is usually due to overcooking but I think 6 hrs in the oven is too long. Take out earlier next time? Time consuming because of oven requirement. Texture, taste and crust were good, but not great.

Basic Cheesecake

EXCELLENT! Everyone thought it was store bought! Texture and taste was amazing, cracked a little but easily hidden with fruit pie filling topping. Crust was awesome even though I left out the nuts.

Irresistible Irish Soda Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2001
I had never had soda bread before, let alone make it, and it was very good. Initially I found it a little too cakey and bland tasting even after waiting a day, but after several days the bread was awesome!!! Great as a make-ahead bread and very easy too!

Tofu Parmigiana

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2001
I loved this!!! I cut the slices in half, like strips, to avoid breakage and it even turned out crispier when frying. An excellent tofu recipe!

Pistachio Cream Cheese Fingers

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2001
Everyone thought they were store bought! Lovely delicate flavour, and they're green! I refrigerated for several days BEFORE baking and still came out great. They stay chewy and fresh for a long time after too. The only problem was SHAPING them. I had never made "fingers" before and through yummy trial and error I figured out you must roll them like worms, cut and bake. Thanks!

Spinach Cheese Squares

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2001
These were really greasy. I didn't like the flavour at all and even adding garlic as suggested didn't help. Might have put too much spinach or cheese(??) but not what I expected at all. My boyfriend LOVED it though, so maybe it's just taste...

Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2001
Great cookie! Really delicious and very easy. I had a problem with the glaze though. I added more milk for easier consistency and I waited until cookies were cool to prevent drizzled glaze from spreading all over the cookie. If you're new to baking (like me) this is an awesome recipe!

Cheese Puff Appetizers

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2001
Easy to make, boyfriend loved them, but although they tasted good (nice mix with the olives), I found them way too greasy. Maybe next time use a lighter cheese? Less butter?

Chewy Granola Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2001
AWESOME! Instead of adding more honey for moistness, I added 1 mashed banana and reduced margarine to 1/2 cup (or less). Nice texture, not crumbly, and just the right sweetness. Also added cinnnamon & nutmeg, mixed raisins & nuts - anything goes with this recipe. Thanks!

Cinnamon Bread I

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2000
REALLY loved this recipe. Made two small loaves and cut cooking time by 20 min. Substituted butter for oil and no problems. Moist, cooked evenly, had a problem with the topping though. Couldn't seem to marble it properly but it didn't matter because it cooked into the bread and gave it a sweet kick. I bake A LOT and my boyfriend will attest this is probably one of the best...THANKS!
