About this Cook
I'm currently enlisted in the Navy, don't have many people to share my baking with so I take most things to work with me. The people there don't mind, that's for sure I especially enjoy decorating cakes and have taken all the Wilton courses offered at my local cake decorating supply store, Party Cakes 'n' Things in Virginia Beach.
My favorite things to cook
I absolutely love baking -- cookies, cakes, bread, whatever... but I am working towards mastering "cooking" more traditional meals as I am a vegetarian and want to cook for more people.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom used to make a big batch of pizza dough and let all the kids go to town making pizzas and calzones. We always had so much fun and then got to eat our creations!
My cooking triumphs
I made my very first wedding cake recently! It's was three tiers and strawberry cake with cream cheese icing.... weighed about 35 pounds!!
My cooking tragedies
I was making an apple pie that has to be baked in a parchment paper covering, well, I ended up getting a paper cut on my cornea from tearing the parchment paper off the box and the corner coming back towards my eye. I know, how did that happen? Only me.

Creamy Banana Bread
I'm about to start letting my bananas over ripen just for an excuse to make this bread more often! I left out the nuts and added an extra tablespoon of brown sugar to the filling, also added a tsp of cinnamon to the dry ingredients and a bit of extra vanilla to the wet ingredients, and then sprinkled a bit if the cinnamon/brown sugar mixture on the tops before baking. I always use mini loaf pans, so this recipe is a little bit too much batter for my 3 minis, it made 3 muffins too, which turned out great! Next time I might ditch the loaves all together and just make muffins!

Clone of a Cinnabon
I made these without a bread maker and they turned out great! Will definitely make again.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie
I have always thought my chocolate chip cookies were "okay" but that a professional baker always had better. This recipe proved to me that I can make awesome chocolate chip cookies at home. I measured the dough in a measuring cup after putting it in the fridge for about an hour and then again betweem batches just to keep it cold. They took a few minutes longer to cook than what was called for, eventually got nice and golden brown yet still very chewy when they cooled. Will definitely make again and know they'd get top dollar at a bake sale.
