Basic Flaky Pie Crust

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2010
This recipe will be my pie crust recipe forever! I use it to make turkey pot pie....so tasty, the perfect crust and very easy to roll out. I do the entire mix in the food processor, removing it after the water is added and it comes together! Love it!

Best way to eat these is to fill them with sausage crumbles and Havarti cheese then top with maple syrup... AMAZING! In Denmark they sell these in the shops in bags frozen for convenience, not bad...but nothing like those made at home.

Blenty of Blintzes

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
This stuff I LOVE!!!! I think the original recipe is great, but here is how I did the filling to take it up a notch. I used a 9x13 glass pan and doubled the recipe. I used the recipe for the crust as it was originally printed. Instead of the original filling I used the sour cream, added a 1/2 cup of sugar, a 16 oz carton of marscapone and a 16 oz carton of ricotta with only one egg and a slosh or two of Amaretto, no salt. In between the layers I added some granulated raw sugar and cinnamon. I baked this until I could see that both the top and the bottom crust were cooked. The filling was a bit soft still. NO PROBLEM, by the time this was served it was PERFECT! Then the day after this stuff is like a cheesecake, it is amazing on day two! I also served a sauce with this that was made using peach jam, with some Amaretto and a bit of cranberry sauce. OOO-LA_LA! Amazing! Thanks sooo much for this recipe! I will use it for many occassions.

Thick Cut-Outs

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2008
I LOVE the sugar cookies this made, but more than that this is a very flexible recipe. I used this recipe as a base and filled with coconut/walnuts/cream cheese and powdered sugar to make mountain cookies. Then I rolled in small balls and indented the top to use this dough as a thumbprint cookie base and added some peach jam before baking! WOW! One recipe and I have three Christmas cookies for my party tomorrow night! THANKS!!!

Absolutely Perfect Palak Paneer

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2008
This is a great recipe. I did not have ingredients to make paneer so I did use ricotta cheese. WARNING! You MUST use a full fatted Ricotta or it will not hole up to frying. I used full fatted ricotta and it was PERFECT! Did not brown as well but still made perfect cubes! Thanks for the idea. Paneer is till much better if you have time to make it or can buy it readily....YUMMY!

Stuffed Strawberries

I have used mini marshmallows to stuff mt berries and then put them on skewers that have been loaded with green grapes. Using the berry as a flower at the end makes a great boquet which I have used as edible table decor! Great recipe-Thanks

Chicken Spaghetti Casserole I

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2008
The best help for this recipe is from Deb from Houston if you scroll down. I took some shortcuts as I just added a chicken Boullion cube to the spaghetti water and I heated the frozen cooked chicken I had on hand in the hot stock water after the pasta cooked. I made my own cream of mushroom soup since I live overseas. If you dont have soup or you cant get it here is the recipe: 1/2 c milk and 1/2 cup cream mixed in glass measure cup. Add one chicken boullion cube for cream of chicken soup. I add extra garlic red pepper if I am making a mexican dish. If I need cream of mushroom I add 1/2 cup chopped mushrooms and some black pepper and some granulated garlic. Then heat the milk mixture in microwave until hot. Add 1/4 c. water mixed with 2Tbsp. corn starch and heat until thickened. This is the perfect substitute for all those expensive cream soups and is VERY tasty!!

Rocky Road Caramel Apples

Reviewed: May 20, 2008
This is a great recipe. One thing to remember: Apples may have a waxy coating on them that keeps the caramel from sticking very well. Rolling your apples in boiling water very quickly will melt that waxy residue and the caramel sticks to the apple! How bout that? :)

Peanut Butter Popcorn

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2008
Hubby says it is the best carmel corn he ever had, gotta be true!!! :) I made it for a movie night tonight , but he got to it first! I added to the melted mixture the swirled chocolate/peanut butter chips and poured it over the corn, then sprinkled some chopped pecans and Heath chips over that before toasting 20 minutes in the oven. I stirred the batch probably three times to keep it all mixed well. THANKS for the recipe!

New York Cheesecake III

I think this recipe is best left to sit for at least 24 hrs in refrigerator. Also you should keep the crust thinner or it tastes doughy when finished. I made a strawberry sauce and it was very good.

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies I

I LOVED these cookies. However, I did have to add extra flour to make the consistency right, otherwise they spread too much. I added WHITE CHOCOLATE chips along with DRIED cherries instead of choc. chips. WONDERFUL!!!

Indian Chapati Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2007
I spent two years in Kenya, and my friend Julie made these for us. She was from Uganda. She rolled her dough balls into long ropes, rubbed them with oil and coiled them into rounds then rolled them out. They were crispy and light. If you let them rest they will raise when put in the skillet. Thanks for the memories!
