Jambalaya II

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2007
This is a very good and easy to make. Instead of boiling a whole chicken, we bought chicken breasts and cubed them. We then sauteed the chicken and sausage along with the peppers, onions, and garlic. We used low sodium/low fat chicken broth as well, and we could not tell that we used low sodium chicken broth. I would suggest making more rice with this though, probably doubling it because it makes a lot of jamalaya. We are looking forward to making this recipe again!

Whole Wheat Banana Nut Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2007
I don't know what happened when I made this, I followed the recipe exactly as stated. It came out heavy and hard, and tasted horrible. It also left a bad after taste in my mouth. It didn't rise very much, maybe that was the problem. I'm not going to attempt this one again.

Pork Chops to Live For

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2006
Overall, this is a good recipe. The gravy is pretty runny, so I would recommend that you put some of it aside in a pot once it is done cooking, then add some flour and/or cornstarch to thicken it up. Also, the cooking time is a bit long. Our pork chops were done in 2.5-3 hours cooking them on high in the crock pot, not the 4-5 hours the recipe said. We also added some fresh onions and fresh mushrooms to the recipe. Mmmmmmmmmm! I would make it again with the modifications.

Candied Sweet Potatoes

This is the way I remember my grandmother making candied sweet potatoes every Thanksgiving! My husband never had them this way before, and he loved the recipe. This is a definite keeper!

Bread and Celery Stuffing

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2006
Awesome stuffing! This has to be one of the best stuffings I've ever had. I would say that you don't need to add much salt to it though. I had added some salt, but I think the salt from the broth would have been enough.

Perfect Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2006
Great pumpkin pie! I had doubled the spices, as some said they would at least double them.. but the spices were way too overpowering. I would make this again, but follow the recipe exactly. Adding more spices made it way too spicy! Also, I had bought a 9" frozen ready to bake crust.. and the pie crust was just not deep enough to hold all the pumpkin filling. I would recommend buying a deep dish crust for this.
