About this Cook
Today is very different then just a few years ago. All my children are moved out so I do not have to cook as much as I use to. I use to cook for 8, now I cook for 2! What a difference it is and it took some getting use to. I work as a Driver Instructor part-time and I am in my last semester of college. I use the crock pot a lot. Three days a week I leave before dinner so when my husband gets home,he eats and then turns it off or on low, then when I get home I eat and put the leftovers in the fridge. It works out good.I like to bake but I do a lot less of that too now a days, mostly because I am trying to loose some weight. I enjoy trying new recipes; allrecipes.com is my favorite place to look for them. There has been very few recipes that I have tried from this site that have not turned out great. I think mostly because of the other cooks that write the reviews! Thanks to all of you that write them!
My favorite things to cook
I don't know if I have a favorite thing to cook.I just like making food that everyone loves to eat!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas cookies are the biggest tradition that I have. My Mother always made it fun for me when I was a child and I of course pass that on to my Children and Grandchildren.
My cooking triumphs
When I was first married 26 years ago, I did not know how to cook at all! My mother never wanted me in the kitchen, she said her mother never let her in. I use to go to my husbands relatives house, her name was Mary and she was at that time 85 years old. I marveled at her cooking, she would make a huge meal and not make a trip to the store. I said to my self; I would like to be able to do that. Just the other day my daugher-in-law was at my house and we made a big meal and she made the comment that we didn't have to go to the store. that made me think about how far I have come as a cook.So I guess that is my triumph.
My cooking tragedies
Oh, I have had many tragedies as a young mother with cooking. I have most likely blocked them out of my mind because I can't think of any at the moment, but if I do I will come back and tell the story.

Coconut Rice
This was a great change for us. I also added a can of shrimp. My husband loved it!

Best Tuna Casserole
This is a great recipe. As always I made a few changes. I used alfredo sause instead of the mushroom soup because the soup contains MSG. I also added the whole can of mushrooms because the other half would just sit in my fridg. I also added doubled the onion because we love onions. I had onion cheese on hand so that is the cheese that I used to top the casserole with. We enjoyed it. Thanks for the recipe.

Chocolate Babka
I gave this cake five stars because my family loved it! I have never had a real Babka before so I could not tell you if it's like one, but I can tell you this is a great cake! I did make a few changes to suit how I cook. Insead of the sour cream I used coconut milk, and instead of the unsweetened cocoa powder I used Ghirardelli all natural sweet ground chocolate and cocoa powder, and i also substiuted Ghirardelli bittersweet chocolate chips for the semisweet chocolate chips. Thank you for sharing this recipe.
