Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2012
Absolutely delicious! As others have done, I doubled the crisp and made it with the crisp on the bottom and on the top. Also used a little more than the suggested amount of water due to the doubling of the crisp. It was nice bc it wasn't dry but moist and just right. All I can so is oh so good!

Buttery Corn Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2011
Very delicious!! Cooked to a T with the exception of using 1 cup of brown sugar instead of regular sugar. I used Arrowhead Organic Cornmeal. This recipe was great coming from someone who traditionally used Jiffy (which is slightly sweet which our family likes). I am a new cornmeal from scratch convert!! It was extremely simple and easy to make!

Bacon Cheese Frittata

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2011
All I can say is OMG!!!!!! This was absolutely phenomal!!!!! I cooked exactly as instructed, however I ran out of milk so I used what I had and fat free half and half to make a cup. Also I used Jones All Natural Fully Cooked Sausage Links -Lite (instead of bacon) cooked them in a pan with olive oil then took out (did not drain) put on plate then sauteed green peppers into same pan. Crumbled sausage and scraped green peppers from pan into a pyrex pie dish then sprinkled with cup of low fat sharp cheddar cheese. Also while whisking the egg mixture I added the required salt, shook pepper to my taste, sprinkled organic cilantro (dried) and basil (dried) into the mixture. WOW, this was incredible! My husband (who can be a pickey eater) and 2 year old thoroughly enjoyed as well!! You can't go wrong with this. A definate keeper!!

Cherry Cream Cheese Dessert

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2010
This recipe was really tasty. I did make a few changes: I didn't have desert cups and didn't want to dirty alot of dishes so I used a pyrex pie dish instead of the desert cups. I used 1 cup of graham cracker crumbs bc I love this type of crust and to also add a little more substance to the dish. To compensate for the additional graham cracker crumbs I added more melted butter and a small amount of sea salt (to taste). Be careful with the sea salt bc you just want a hint to complement the sweetness in the dish (You can always add more but won't be able to take out). I put down my grahm cracker crust in the bottom of the pie dish, packed it down with a clean dry spoon, added the cream cheeese mixture on top and them topped the dish with cherry pie filling. I put in the fridge then served. Yummy!! A very quick and delicious snack to make for your family.

Actually Delicious Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2010
Our family loved this recipe. I tweaked it some: I adjusted the recipe for 2 lbs. of ground turkey, added two shallots instead of the onion, added approx. 2 tsp. of honey, 1 1/2 tsp. of mustard. 2 tsp. of brown sugar, a few shakes of worcest. sauce, ground cumin, sea salt, approx. 2 shakes of cayenne pepper. I made sure my oil was nice and hot to give the burgers a nice browning, I browned each side then turned the flame down to medium low. I also forgot to put the egg in until the "second batch" I didn't notice a difference. These burgers were juicy and delicious. I served on whole wheat hamburger rolls with chipolte mayo. So delish!! Our whole family enjoyed.

Fluffy French Toast

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2010
This is the BEST french toast recipe. I am a breakfast food fanatic and have been using this recipe for years. The only change I make is to add just a tad more flour so that the french toast is coated evenly. Definately a keeper :-)

Blueberry Buckle

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2010
Very Delicous!!! Our family really enjoyed this recipe. The only changes that I made were: I used butter in place of the shortening (since shortening has preservatives and I prefer to cook with all natural/no preservative ingredients). I also followed another rater's advice and doubled the recipe and put in a 9X13 pan, I used about 2 1/2 cups of fresh berries which was a perfect amount. I served warm with a small dollop of fresh ice cream on the side. I also plan to eat a slice for breakfast with a cup of tea. This recipe is definately a keeper :-)

Oatmeal Pancakes II

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2009
Bravo, Bravo!! My daughter Hannah (16months) and I are a HUGE fan of good pancakes!!! I made these this morning and boy were these delicious!! Here are the changes that I made: I used unbleached flour & organic vanilla extract. I omitted using baking soda after reading several reviews and decided against bc I was afraid that it would be too salty--this was an excellent choice. I also swapped the buttermilk and used regular milk after reading one of the reviews and I also didn't have it on hand--another excellent choice although I'm sure that it would have tasted just as good if I did have buttermilk. I also added in 2 TBL spoons of brown sugar and I used Earth's Best Organic Instant Maple Brown & Sugar Oatmeal. I mixed all the ingredients in a mixing bowl just by choice; the result: wonderful tasting pancakes with a good texture! After the panckaes were done I topped them off with some butter and real maple syrup (Wegman's brand--the best!) These were really good and I will certainly make these again and again for years to come!! Thx mom2hh!!

Chimichurri Sauce for Steaks

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2009
I really liked this recipie. It was simple to make and very tasty :) I made steak tonight and did not have alot of time to marinate (I normally marinate my steaks overnight), so after I made sauce, I marinated in ziploc bag for approx. 30 minutes. I followed recipe to a T with the exception of using a Rasberry Wine Vinegrette instead of the Sherry Wine vinegreette that the recipe, called for. My husband and I really enjoyed this dish...definately a keeper!

Frank's® Red Hot® Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2009
I made this dip in preperation for some good eats during the superbowl game. I followed this recipie to a T. Although, I thought that this recipie was good, it was not great. I was a little disapointed since I was tuned up for a nice treat after reading through the reviews. I thought that the dip was overly spicey and I LOVE spice!! My husband who also love's spice thought the same. Also, I thought that the dip tasted better with celery. Using crackers or tortilla chips was too salty for my taste. In addition, I thought that the blue cheese dressing and additional blue cheese crumbles, may have been a little too much for my tastebuds and made the dish, a little saltier than I would have liked. I am going to try the other buffalo dip recipie on this site with rave reviews from over 1200 folks. Seems like that recipie is tried and true. It calls for more cream cheese, comparatively less cayenne pepper sauce, cheddar cheese etc. Just wanted to share my experience, the dip was not horrible, but not great. Don't think I will try to make this recipie again. Hope that this review is of help.

Guacamole

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2008
Absolutely delicious!!! I LOVE guacamole and I thought that this recipe was the BOMB. I blended the ingredients in my mini-foodprocessor and it turned out great. I served atop chicken fajitas with sourcream, red peppers, onions and chedder cheese. Yum!! Better than eating at a restaurant :) P.S. I did not use cayenne paper the initial time and recipie still turned out great, also I did not refrigerate prior to initial serving and still delish.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2008
I thought that these muffins were good however not trying to knock the review that I followed since everyone’s' taste is different...next time I will follow the directions as it pertains to putting on the crumb topping before baking. I followed a review that recommended putting the topping on five minutes before the muffins are finished baking. I found that the muffins were not sweet enough and the topping was messy. Instead of the topping sinking in the batter and baking in overtime, it was sort of a dusting over top that did not have a chance to crisp up nicely. By the time the crumb topping started to get nice, I had to take the muffins out or else they might have burned. With that being said, next time, I will also use a little less brown sugar b/c it was hard to get the corn meal consistency (or I will increase the other ingredients). I will also use canola oil as recommended by a few people to enhance the moisture. I think that this is a simple recipe that is a keeper. I am not discouraged, I know what I did wrong and next time I will correct :)

Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2008
The title says it all...this recipie was quick and easy and very good I might add :) I used 1/3 less fat philly cream cheese and organic skim milk. I served over bow pasta and pesto chicken breast with garlic bread. For those who like to add nutmeg, etc. to their Alfredo, this recipie allows you the flexibility to do so...I chose to follow recipie exactly this time around and was happy with the result.

Quick and Easy Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2008
Wow!!! This recipie is awesome. I can not believe that I made such a great pizza on the first try. I used extra virgin olive oil in this recipie. I drizzled a little olive oil on top of pizza and pizza crust (smoothed oil in on crust)just prior to sticking pizza in oven. I also sprikled a little oregano and italian seasoning on dough, just before I rolled out dough. Mmmm Delish!! Definately a keeper!!!

Vegetable Chowder

I love this recipie. This was recpie was great. I used frozen veggies and it turned out great. I used frozen corn, brocoli, fresh carrots, fresh red peppers, etc. I love the flexibility to add whatever vegatables that you like/have available. I like to sprinkle a little bit of chedder on top when served. The next time I make, I will have this as a side dish to the Bacon Pepper Jack Chicken sandwich (on this site).

Bacon Jack Chicken Sandwich

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2008
Very good recipe. Definately a new favorite for me. Instead of hamburger rolls, I served on soft kaiser rolls. Also, I made a honey mustard sauce to top off the sandwich nicely. To make the honey mustard sauce: I used marzetti honey dijon dressing, a little grey poupon dijon mustard and honey (use quantities to suit your taste. Start by putting the honey dijon dressing in a dish, add a little (tsp or so) of grey poupon dijon mustard and honey, then adjust to your taste. I used a good bit of honey to make a nice sweet honey mustard sauce :). I served with chips which were good. The next time I make, I plan on making the Vegetable Chowder (from this site--really good and easy to make), soup or chips with this sandwich, can't go wrong with either.

Zucchini Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2008
Wonderful! This recipie was great. I followed the recipe to the "T" and it turned out delicious! I love the sauce, it was a perfect compliment. It reminds me of a favorite desert from "down under" except I can control the nuts, in addition, this recipie is healthier with the zucchini, margarine. I used unbleached flour instead of bleached flour. Will definately make again. I served warm with a few scoops of Bryers french vanilla ice cream, Yum!!
