Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2010
Absolutely the best ever! Recipe made 6-8 serv instead of 4. Next time I'll use three avg potatoes. Worried that I didn't have enough sauce - but there was plenty. Took the advice of another and added about 1/4c sour cream. Removed foil and browned up nicely last 10min. Sprinkled bacon on top before serving. Yum!

Zippy Zucchini

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2010
The title and picture is what drew me to this. After making, I'm not sure where the red in the picture came from - mine looked nothing like this when done. I only had 2 zucchini which I chopped instead of sliced. I cut the recipe in half except followed the suggestion of others to add garlic powder and only 1/8c oil. I added a little Emeril's Essence and sprinkled the top with pepper. Still a little on the bland side, so next time I'll go heavier on the spices. Overall, pretty good and my very picky 11yr old even tried it and liked it which says alot!

Breakfast Casserole III

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2010
This was really good! For a family of three I made the following changes - Lightly beat 5 eggs and set aside. In a large skillet, browned 1/2lb roll sausage, drained and set aside. In the same skillet I added 2Tblsp oil, 1/2c chopped onion and 1-1/2c. defrosted frozen hashbrowns and tossed until browned. Sprinkled with seasoning salt and poured into greased baking pan. Sprinkled with cheddar and poured eggs over, then sprinkled with pepper and no additional salt. The eggs didn't fully cover the sausage - but it baked up great. Baked 20min 350*

Baked Corn

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2009
This is a Thanksgiving traditional dish for our family - I never use kernel corn - just 2 cans creamed corn. Yummo!

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2009
This is a Thanksgiving tradition for us! I always double it and bake in a large quiche dish or 9X13. When the top looks dry, it's done.

Fabulous Foolproof Lasagna

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2009
Just follow the recipe on the back of the Barilla No Boil Lasagna - no need to add the seasonings - it's in the sausage.

Gooey Butter Cake III

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2009
Birthday tradition in our house - but this version is incorrect - use just 2c Confectioners Sugar, not 4c if you have any hope at all of "pouring" the cream cheese layer. Add 4c and you are left with a solid mass. Be careful not to overbake.

Grandma's Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2009
Another reason you should always trust your Grandma! Very good - took the advice and used 1/2 ketchup and 1/2 BBQ sauce. Added a good dash of ground cloves. Excellent - will use this from now on. Thanks Grandma!

Chinese Noodle Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2009
I agree with "Shortcake" - easy to prepare but lacks flavor. I didn't have any snow peas on hand and used linguine. Will add garlic next time.

Chicken Quesadillas and Fiesta Rice

Reviewed: May 4, 2009
I totslly agree regarding the lack of flavor and too gooey consistency although my 10yr old loved it! Next time I'll season the chicken w/pkg Taco seasoning and add only half can of soup.

Baked Ziti III

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2009
This was by far the best recipe we've tried for Baked Ziti! My 10yr old couldn't get enough of it! The only change I would suggest is to use shredded mozzarella and tear the provolone into pieces - I was a little wary of the sour cream as I am a ricotta fan - but it was great!

Sweet Potato Casserole I

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2009
This is definitely the most requested dish for our holiday dinners - one change I highly suggest is to add the melted butter gradually so that you end up with a streusel like topping rather than a gooey one.

Berry Cheesecake Parfaits

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2009
I agree, way too much cream cheese! It made the dessert very rich - I used a combo of blueberries, strawberries and pineapple, but the cream cheese overpowered the flavor of the fruit.

Easy, Cheesy Tortellini Bake

While this dish looks pretty coming out of the oven, it's not when you dig in. The spinach is a big mistake! I should have known better and left it out with a 9yr old in the house!

Ground Beef Bar-b-que

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2008
I wish I had taken the time to read the reviews before attempting to make patties for the grill. I asked my husband if he knew how to make smoke signals! Ha! Good flavor, but a mess to deal with in grilling. I'll use the recipe again, but try it as sloppy joes or meatloaf as suggested. Thanks!
