Red Wine Flavored Beef

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2008
This was so easy to make! I loved the flavor the onion soup mix gave to the beef. There is nothing I would do differently. I'll be making this again.

Honey Of An Oatmeal Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2007
This was very easy to make and it came out great! I did make one change, however. Instead of using all white flour, I used half white flour and half whole wheat flour. This gave it more fiber and a better, nuttier taste. Also, I don't use bread flour in my bread machine. Unbleached all-purpose flour is good enough for me because if I did have all these different flours, I wouldn't have any room in my cabinets. Although I don't use bread flour, I do add vital wheat gluten, which is available at supermarkets. This gives more volume to loaves and a more bread-like texture. The rule is to add one teaspoon of wheat gluten per cup of flour or one and a half teaspoons per cup of whole grain(or whole wheat)flour. I hope this tip was helpful for those who may be having trouble with the size of their bread loaves as a result of not using bread flour. I will be making this bread again soon!

Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2007
Delicious! I made this one night after work and I was surprised at how quick and easy it was. Make sure you use the A1 sauce because it really gives it that extra zing. Since I had some sauce left over, I used it on the side as a dipping sauce. Depending on the thickness of the chicken, you may have to grill them a little longer than stated in the recipe.

Balsamic Glazed Carrots

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2007
There was nothing great about this recipe. It wasn't bad, but it's certainly not to-die-for. The carrots remained firm and burnt because they were not in enough liquid. I love balsamic vinegar and carrots, but this recipe just was not for me.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2007
These were fantastic banana muffins! I followed almost all of the ingredients exactly. The only thing I changed was the amount of cinnamon in the topping. Instead of only 1/8, I used 1/4 tsp cinnamon. I don't think it made that much of a difference. These muffins were extremely easy to make since I only needed two bowls; I didn't have to bother with an electric mixer. Next time, I'll try substituting vegetable oil for the butter to see how it affects the muffins. I will definitely make these again when I have some ripe bananas around.

Easy Homemade Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2007
This is the quickest thing I have made for dinner in a long time. However, I like my chili on the thicker side, and this chili was a little too watery. To solve this problem, I added half a can of tomato paste, and this made it perfect. I also added just a little extra chili powder because I wanted it to be a little spicier. Because I didn't have stewed tomatoes, I used canned diced tomatoes instead. They were just as good and gave the chili a nice flavor. I have already made this for dinner twice, and I plan on making it a staple in my recipe collection. It's great served with a portion of baguette.

Pizzelles III

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2007
I tried this recipe a few days ago, and I thought they were very good. However, they browned unevenly and had an off taste because of it. I read somewhere that oil browns better than butter, so the next time I make these I will substitute the butter with oil. The texture was a little funny, it wasn't like the texture of pizzelles I've had before. I also thought these pizzelles came out very sweet. This could have been due to the fact that I really like the taste of anise and wanted that to be the strongest flavor, not the sweetness of the sugar. I will try this recipe again, reducing the amount of sugar and exchanging the butter with oil.

Braised Balsamic Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2006
I had this last night for dinner. I didn't have a lot of time to cook, and I didn't feel like making a trip to the supermarket. Luckily, I had all the ingredients needed to make this delicious dish. My mother stopped by and tried some...she hasn't stopped raving about it. I plan on making this again and again. I also think that steak would be a good substitue for the chicken if you wanted to make it a little fancier or for a special occasion.

Orange Glazed Carrots

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2006
I loved this recipe. I used real butter and light brown sugar and they came out great. I decided to make this because I had some left over baby carrots that I had used for minestrone soup, and I wanted a way to use them up. HOwever, next time I think I'll use more orange juice because a quarter of a cup just wasn't enough. I could barely taste the orange flavor. Other than that, the carrots were fantastic!

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2006
This was a great recipe. I went apple picking with my family and wanted a recipe to help me use up some of them. This recipe was easy to follow and didn't take too long to prepare. My family and I loved it. It was even better with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
