Best Lemonade Ever
This is one fine lemonade to usher in the beginning of summer. The ratios of sugar, to water, to lemon are perfect and illicit just the right amount of pucker to your lips. As another had suggested, the use of a microwave and ice cubes can hurry you on to Lemonirvana, Nuke 1 cup of water for 1 minute. Add sugar to irradiated water. Swirl into a syrupy translucent mixture. Pour remaining water, ice, and lemon juice to jug. Stir in syrup. Jug-a-lug. A note on the mysteries of ice: place ice into your measuring cup before adding the water to ensure an accurate measurement.

Pecan Pie V
Thank you for the amazing pecan pie. My southern wife complimented me, saying it was pretty good, to be made by a northern boy. I followed the baking instructions exactly, but covered the edge of the crust with foil and then removed it during the last 15 minutes of baking. Also, followed the advice of others to mix the sugars with the butter first, than vanilla, milk, (room temp. whisked)eggs, flour, and pecans. Made for a nice smooth mix. Don't forget to smatter the top with pecan halves. For the crust I used 1/2 cup of virgin coconut oil, 1/2 tsp of salt, 1 1/3 cups of flour, and 3 tblsp of cold water. Made for a tender flakey crust packed full of good fat that complimented the filling well.

Homemade Flour Tortillas
Amazing tortillas! Forgoing the extravagance of a press, we rolled the dough out with a thick wooden dowel and cooked them on an iron skillet. Mixing the flour with your fingers is a great stress reliever and works far better than trying to use a mixer. We used extra virgin coconut oil instead of lard, which has the same consistency as lard (below 76 degrees), but is packed full of good LDL's. There was no coconut taste, so we have found a new substitute for lard in tortillas. These tortillas were far better and cheaper than store bought, which are filled with unpronounceable preservatives and hydrogenated oils.
