Brownie Delight

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2012
I made this recipe twice now. The first time I used only 8 oz cream cheese, 1 cup confectioners sugar, and a 8 oz carton of thawed frozen whipped topping. I used 1/2 of the carton with the cream cheese and the other half on top of the chocolate pudding. I brought this to a potluck and it was one of the first dishes to be emptied! The second time I made this I made the cream cheese filling the same as before but I topped it with sliced strawberries. It went fast also. My dd thought that I had ruined the strawberries but when she tried it she wanted to know when I was making it again!

1-Dish Taco Bake

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2011
I have made this a few times now. The first the whole family enjoyed it. I added the cheese to the family's liking. The second time I made the mistake of making the crust first and then realized I was out of taco seasoning. By the time the rest was added the crust had raised so much that the filling sunk to the bottom. Needless to say my family didn't particularly enjoy it.

Applesauce Doughnuts

The BEST doughnuts ever! I rolled the fried doughnuts in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon. They disappeared really fast at my house. Kids were asking to make them again the next day! Will use this recipe again!

Blackberry Cobbler

I tried this recipe a few times. The first time I made it I assembled it at home and baked it in the oven at a friend's home. The pan was scraped clean!! The second time I forgot to add self-rising flour and it was very gummy!

Barbecued Meatballs

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2006
I made these for a family potluck last year. This year my aunt requested that I bring my good meatballs. There wasn't anything left to bring home. I changed the recipe a little when I made these a year ago. I didn't have enough barbeque sauce to double the recipe so I had added about half of a small size bottle of Heinz 57 Sauce. I think that is what made the difference. Try it and see what you think.

Bumbleberry Pie I

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2006
I entered the pie in a berry pie baking contest and got second place! I substituted blueberries for the blackberries as they weren't ripened at the time of the contest. Marionberries would have been great also.

Neapolitan Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2006
I made this cheesecake and took second place in a baking contest. I divided the filling into three separate bowls with about 1 2/3 cups in each one. Each bowl was a different flavor. After the cheesecake had cooled and was ready to serve, I melted 3 squares of semisweet chocolate with 2 Tablespoons of butter and 1 teaspoon of shortening, Cool for 2 minutes and pour over the cake letting it drip a little over the sides. Melt 1/2 ounce of white chocolate with 1 tsp shortening and drizzle over the glaze. That seemed to change the cheesecake from looking a little drab to one for a special occasion.

Raspberry Almond Kiss Cookies

Thanks for sharing this awesome cookie recipe. It was a nice change from the peanut blossoms. The only change that I made was that I used milk chocolate almond kisses. I entered these cookies in our local newspaper's Christmas Cookie contest and got second place!

Peppermint Bars

I don't know what I did wrong. I followed the directions completely and the next morning I tried to cut these into bars and it was as hard as a rock. My son joked that we could use them for Christmas tree ornaments!

Peppermint Patty Surprise

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2005
I thought that I could help with some of the problems that people are having with making these cookies. My family has been making these at Christmas for generations. We don't melt any chocolate chips for the cookie dough though. The recipe that we use is very similar. The only other changes are twice as much butter, twice the flour, omitting the baking powder and adding 1 tsp. baking soda. The mini peppermint patties we leave whole. Chilling the dough for two hours will help alot. Wrap the dough around the patty and then put the shaped cookies in the refrigerator to chill again while the oven preheats. Baking this on parchment lined baking sheets helps also. I hope this helps others. I know that there is alot of prep involved but the cookies are great.

Apple Pecan Cobbler

I followed this recipe exactly. The baking time of 55 minutes is too long. The apples were way too soft. The top of the cobbler had cracks on the top of it.

Berry Rhubarb Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2002
I tried this recipe for a local pie competition. I won First Place. I made this two times. The first try I followed the recipe and only substituted Marionberries for Blackberries as they were not in season yet. This was too tart for quite a few people. On the second try I used only 1 cup rhubarb and 1 1/2 cups each of raspberries and marionberries. Everyone who tried this said it was very good.

My husband commented over again how much he enjoyed this. Definitely will make it again and again! I have been like the others and omitted curry powder in any recipe. I purchased a mild curry powder and it was perfect for me. My kids enjoyed this one too!
