Guinness® Corned Beef

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2010
The corned beef was the best we'd ever had. I'm usually not a fan and hubby is a corned beef connoisseur. We had lots of people over for this. The only thing everyone agreed on, besides how wonderful the beef was, is that the vegetables tasted like straight guiness. Not very good.. I suggest doing them seperately in chicken broth. They were the only things left on the plate.. Thank you for sharing the recipe for amazing beef!!

Easy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2009
Here's the deal. THESE COOKIES ARE PERFECT. If they don't come out right, you did something wrong. I am a novice in the kitchen and I didn't screw them up.. I read the review that said the dough was crumbly, SHE DIDN'T MIX THE DOUGH LONG ENOUGH. I can't imagine how many people threw the dough out thinking they had made the same mistake. About half way through mixing after I added the flour I thought, "OMG, look at the dough, it's 'crumbly,' just like that review said..shoot!" But I continued to mix it and it came together fine in another minute or too. These cookies are so fast, I can't imagine she was that impatient. Anyhow, cream butter and sugar WELL, as always. I use a hand mixer, it was the right thing for this dough. Use it until the butter/sugar mixture becomes a butter consistency again. When doing the flour, it will get crumbly, but soon after, it will come together perfectly. Easy to handle and ball up without refrigeration. Oh and, as another said, 8 MIN IS SPOT ON. They may not look done, but they are! I have tried a dozen sugar cookie recipes, and my search is over!! THANK, THANK, THANK YOU!! :)

Angel Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2009
I make this as written, and it is delicious. I don't like wine, but it's very subtle. I do think that the sauce should be doubled, because a lot of it is absorbed and/or dried up when baked. This may not be a problem when using a slow cooker, but again, I followed the given directions. Thanks for sharing! :)

Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2009
I make this recipe exactly as written, and it is perfect every time. I do recommend doubling the sauce if this is your only entree. The "4" servings are usually barely enough for me and hubby. Thank you for the recipe! :)

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2009
I make this recipe as written, except I use chicken broth, not beer. It's excellent and it didn't make me feel like I needed to try it with beer to experience the true soup flavor, because we loved it so much without! Thanks for sharing. :)

Mini Crescent Dogs

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2009
How much easier does a recipe get? 2 ingredients and they're always gone just as quickly as I put them out. There really are no secrets here, except for the great tip to use a pizza cutter. It makes this recipe too easy. :)

Sauteed Garlic Asparagus

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2009
Very good guidelines for cooking asparagus. I like mine cooked and 10 mins is plenty, just a hint of crunch left. Of course, this is a guideline. Salt and pepper to taste and even a bit of fresh grated parmesan makes these to die for. :)

Spinach Dip with Water Chestnuts

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2009
This is the best spinach dip recipe that's not baked. Very good, but I believe it's the same as printed on the back of the soup mix.. Kind of a cheat. :) Anyhow, you could add more spinach if you wanted a thicker consistency. But flavor is great as is. My aunt always makes this with leek soup mix, and the one I made was BETTER, so DO NOT USE LEEK SOUP. It has weird pieces that almost break your teeth. Don't change a thing unless you prefer a bit more spinach, but leave everything else alone! :)

David's Yellow Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2009
I followed this recipe as written, with the exception of the flour. I, too, used flour with a 2 TBS cornstarch substitution per cup. It was neither dry or "cornbready." It was FABULOUS and (broken record..) WAY better than boxed mix. I will ALWAYS make this instead of boxed now. Also, as said before, beat sugar and butter well and take care adding one yolk at a time to ensure even mixing! 5+ stars! :)

Super Sausage Gravy

Amazing. Simply amazing. I made this for a breakfast buffet, exactly as written, and when the biscuits ran out, people were eating it with a spoon.. It's THAT good!

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2009
Amazing recipe, truly. I have made this dozens of times. I always do half brown, half white sugar, and I always do half butter, half oil. This stays moist and delicious for days on end.. Other than those 2 suggestions, this recipe is perfect as is. Thank you so much for sharing!

Guacamole

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2009
This is absolutely as good as guacamole can get! Thank you for sharing it!! Tips: Obviously, you want ripe avacados. Make sure to use the lime juice, NOT lemon. Also, the chill time, although not required, makes it that much better! Also, the serving size is correct, I need at least 2 batches of this stuff if there's any more than a few people eating it. Truly, can't say enough good things about this recipe! :)

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2009
I don't know what went wrong, but I made this EXACTLY as written and it was bland, I mean completely flavorless. Thank God for the outstanding risotto I made from this site, or the Valentine's day meal could've been a disaster. I wish I had something better to say..Sorry.

Chicken and Broccoli Alfredo

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2009
This was OKAY. I made it exactly as written, and I wasn't impressed. It's not BAD, just not good. The mushrooms didn't really bother me, they're pretty uch microscopic. The problem is it doesn't taste like alfredo at all, so I think naming it that really makes people expect something different. I, personally, won't bother making it again. Maybe if they re-named it, it'd get different perspective, because as an alfredo this just doesn't cut it.

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2008
This chili is so good, and so darn easy to make. I made the recipe exactly as written and it got raves. I have to comment on a couple of things that aren't specified or are optional. You need to drain the beans. Maybe that's a given, but it didn't specify, and being a new cook, I wasn't sure. Also, I would highly recommend draining the grease. I have made it both ways and it's much better when made with drained meat. But quite delicious regardless! 5 stars, period!
