About this Cook
I'm a registered nurse and have been working at a local hospital for 2 years.
My favorite things to cook
I am open to most foods. I love baking cookies but also love experimenting with foods. Currently I am interested in vegetarian/vegan dishes and becoming more creative with finding meat substitutes or making meatless dishes more palatable.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandma used to cook German food on a regular basis. My mother however never enjoyed cooking so I never learned how to cook. Over the years I've been slowly teaching myself how to cook with the use of suggestions from others on this site, the help of recipes and my own recipe book that was given to me from my grandmother.
My cooking triumphs
I'm very good at following the directions of a good recipe. People enjoy my cookies, my favorites being chocolate chip and soft gingerbread cookies. Recently I've been successful at pretzels, BBQ pulled pork, and rice pudding. I've also been successful with beef stew, tuna casserole, green bean casserole and, in the past, breads.
My cooking tragedies
Nearly every attempt at cooking Indian cuisine has failed save for one dish- Pau Bhaji. My attempts at Naan bread come out leathery and not soft like I remember from Indian cafes. Curries are also not a strong point of mine. Asian food as well is still not a strong point. I am always learning new things everyday so hopefully I will eventually be able to add these to my triumphs.

Cream Puffs
These turned out perfectly. The pastry itself reminded me of something that one could buy at a bakery and the cream was delicate yet sweet in flavor. I would definitely make these again. Perfect for parties and get togethers.

Four Egg Yellow Cake
This cake was perfect. It was moist and fluffy and was not dense or dry like some other reviewers had described. I frosted it with a chocolate frosting recipe from this site and the combination was better than anything I could buy at the store. I will definitely be making this again for special occasions or whenever I have a desire for cake. Thank you for an excellent recipe.

Hummus III
Tastes just like the humus found in middle eastern restaurants. This is a very addictive dip and one that I'll be making again and again. Thank you for sharing such a good recipe.
