Strawberry Dream Cake I

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2008
Great summer cake. Delicious. Made exactly as written except I used a 9x13 pan. Needs to be refrigerated to keep frosting set. I made this for a co-workers birthday and everyone raved! I even received compliments from her husband who was lucky enough to get leftovers. Thanks for the recipe!

Chocolate Refrigerator Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2008
Positives: 1)Very easy to prepare, 2)Refrigerated and sliced very easily, and 3)Very nice texture after baking. Negatives: 1)Little to no chocolate taste and 2)Not very sweet. Made these exactly as written. If you plan to decorate with icing, you will solve the sweet issue. If you are relying on a chocolate taste, think again. These would do well as a sandwiching cooking. I will try again and add cocoa or just leave all the chocolate out and add almond extract and poopy seeds.

Guacamole

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2008
Best guacamole I have ever had...hands down. I did use shallots instead of onion because I had some left over from another dish. Don't pass this recipe up...you'll only want guacamole at home after you try this recipe.

Sugar Cookie Glaze

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2007
I really like this recipe. The icing/glaze was very user friendly. I used it to glaze cookies and then added more powdered sugar to thicken it up for piping small details. Dried quickly (90 min to 2 hours). I was icing alot of cookies so the glaze became thick so I just added a small amount of corn syrup, beat it in until I got the consistency I wanted again. Worked great. Thanks for the recipe!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2007
Best ever!!! Made exactly as written and kept dough in frig while working small amount out on the board. A double batch made just over 100 football shaped cookies (3"x1 1/2" oval). Rolled dough out to about 3/8". These baked so nicely and stood up to handling while decorating. Thanks for the recipe!

Bacon Cheddar Chive Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2007
These were at hit at Sunday School. Hve made several times with slight variation due to ingredients on hand. I have substituted finely chopped ham for the bacon since I did not have time to fry the bacon. I have also used all cheddar cheese and no parmesan cheese (kids beat me to it in the frig...you've been there). The turned out great with booth changes. Great alternative to a sweet breakfast treat.

Megan's Granola

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2007
Loved this! Even the kids will eat it for breakfast with milk. Made it as written except I added more cranberries and added more almonds to make up for not having walnuts in the house. I also added some almond extract (I love the cranberry-almond combo). I did cook an additional 10 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes to prevent browning around the edge to the pan. Great on top of plain or vanilla yogurt. I also used it as a topping for cranberry-almond tea bread, spinkling it on top of the batter before cooking and covering loosely with foil about 1/2 way through cooking.

Marinated Cheese

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2006
If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would. This is a hit every time I take it to a party. One of my favorites. Visually impressive, too, and great because you can make it a day in advance. Great for a wine party!

Royal Icing I

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2006
This was my first time using Royal Icing. I found this icing very easy to use for spreading as well as piping. Used vanilla extract and it tasted great. Took several hours to dry completely so they could be packed away. Used to decorate pumpkin cut-out sugar cookies that were then mailed to my husband Saudi Arabia. Cookies held up very well in shipping. Definitely recommend.

Very, very good. Made it as directed and served with Chicken Satay (submitted by Keira) which I also recommend.

Caramel Popcorn

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2006
Loved this recipe. "Melts in your mouth" according to my teenagers. First time out I made it just as written. I used salted butter so the secound time I left out the salt and it tasted great. A hit at work, as well. Took the advice of others and kept the popcorn warm in the oven while the caramel cooked. I used popcorn popped in a hot air popper, as well as the microwave variety. I did used a store brand brown sugar and did not have any problems with graininess (that a word?). Thanks for the recipe, it has become a favorite!
