Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
I thought this recipe was just ok although my family gobbled it up on Thanksgiving. No one said it was outstanding nor did anyone say they didn't like it. I think the idea is good, with the sauce, but I will most likely stick with the traditional apple pie.

Make Ahead French Toast

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
This dish is so easy and delicious. I made it for my family the morning after the big "Day After Thanksgiving" shopping trip. The make ahead portion is quick and so is the morning preparation. I was pleasantly surprised that the maple syrup isn't over powering. Basically it makes a carmel sauce, no maple taste at all. I shared this recipe will all that had it as they want to make it for their families too.

Cholesterol King Heart Stopper 2000

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2007
Well, this is definitely a heart stopper! The amount of cheese and meat is astronomical and delicious! I used Muenster and cheddar cheeses. I was surprised that there is no mayo or mustard but it was not needed with the butter and cheese. I made this for a group of hungry football fans and it was perfect with just chips and dip. Quick and easy.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2007
I really liked this bread. It was dry though, maybe I over-cooked it a bit. Very nice flavor and the chocolate chips were excellent with the pumpkin. I will make definitely make this again and re-rate if the dryness was due to user error. Thanks!

Apple Loaf

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2007
Very good! I used 4 apples which made about 2 cups of shredded apples and I added cinnamon because it goes so well with apples. The bread is very moist and has an excellent flavor. I would make this over banana bread. Yum!

Peanut Butter Glaze

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2007
YUM! I made this for the frosted banana bars from this site instead of the frosting from that recipe. Very good. It's just the right amount of peanut butter. I would have this over frosting any day.

Yakisoba Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2007
My husband loved this recipe. I thought it was very good but I wasn't gaga over it like he is. I enjoy making Asian food-be sure to prepare all your ingredients and chop the vegetables before starting, it goes fast. I cheated on this and used pre-shredded cabbage and carrots from the store. I also used roasted red chili paste and it was just the right amount of spiciness. The soba noodles were good too. I will use them in other dishes as well.

Hummus III

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2007
This is a good starter recipe but I would need to make additions if I make it again. Something is missing...I added about 4 cloves of garlic and cumin and paprika and that still didn't do the trick. I will try again with other ingredients so I can use up the tahini.

Guacamole

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2007
This is a fantastic recipe! The only change I made was that I added more tomato and more cilantro than called for. This is very easy, I actually chopped the tomatoes and onion (very fine chop) ahead of time and then peeled and mashed the avocado when I was ready to serve. I got it done and served during halftime of the Packer game. Excellent!

Frosted Banana Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2007
Wow! These are great! They are very moist and chewy like the title states. I was pleasantly surprised on how good these are. I don't like frosting so I made a peanut butter glaze instead using 2/3 cup of powered sugar, 4 teaspoons of water and a tablespoon of peanut butter. Nothing goes better with bananas than peanut butter. Make this for your next get-together, they will be a hit!

Gypsy Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2007
If a word could describe this soup it would be 'cozy'. The spices make the broth of the soup have a very warm taste and are not overwhelming at all. I really liked the sweet potatoes with the broth. My husband said this did not have enough flavor but I really liked it. It is very easy and affordable.

Burrito Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2007
This is a very good and easy dish. I actually forgot to add the refried beans to the meat mixture and it was still very good. I think it would have held together a little better but it wasn't a problem. I also used medium heat taco sauce and it gave the dish a great flavor. This makes a lot-think lasagna-so plan to make it for a crowd. Enjoy.

Mid-Summer Italian Bread Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2007
This salad is awesome! We ate it as the main dish and couldn't have asked for a more refreshing and flavorful dinner. I did not make any changes other than adding a bit more balsamic vinegar. This is easy to make and most of the veggies came from our garden. I will definately make this over and over again.

Emily's Famous Onion Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2007
This was a very easy and tasty dip. I used sour cream instead of yogurt. I will try it again adding garlic. I think that addition will boost it to a 5-star.

Six Can Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2007
Excellent! I did make a few changes. I used grilled chicken breasts which I had left over and I also put a whole chopped onion in the soup. I thought this gave it a more homemade taste. I also added about a teaspoon of cumin which added a warm flavor. My husband raved over this and I will definately make it again. It is easy and affordable.

Beer Bread I

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2007
This is a great starter recipe. The bread is really chewy and the crust is crunchy. I used Coors light beer and it had no beer taste whatsoever which is good. I also added 2 tablespoons of melted butter into the mix. Additions of herbs or other flavors would be great and bump this up to a 5 star.

Rory's Most Wonderful Corn Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2007
This is a very easy cornbread recipe. I omited the broccoli because it just didn't seem right but added shredded cheddar cheese. The onions got very sweet and the cottage cheese made the bread moist and fluffy. The flavor kind of grows on you. I didn't like it at first but the more I ate, the more I liked it. I might try this again adding a tablespoon of sugar just to add to the sweet onion flavor.

Broccoli Chicken Casserole I

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2007
This casserole is very good. I made just a few changes. I mixed the cream of mushroom soup with a can of milk and added the stuffing to that mix so it wouldn't be too hard. I then added Mrs Dash to the mixture because I was afraid the soup mixture would be less flavorful with the addition of the milk. This is very good and easy to make. Enjoy!

Florentine Artichoke Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2007
This is good but I am still looking for an unbelievable one. It does have the right amount to spinach and artichokes porpotion to the rest of it. Maybe some more garlic would do the trick.
