Turkey Ragu with Fontina and Parmesan

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2011
This was pretty good for a weeknight dinner. Not something I would serve for company though as it was a little bland. It was easy to get the kids to eat so I will probably make it again.

Poppy Seed Chicken II

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2010
This was pretty good. I made the recipe as is and everyone cleared their plates but it was a little bland and dry. I will definately make it again since it isn't often that I find something that all of us will eat without any complaints but I will probably make a couple of changes next time to add a little more flavor and liquid.

Orange Drop Cookies IV

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2010
I've made these for Christmas the last couple of years and will make them again this year. I think the cookies are good but everyone else thinks they are amazing and they get eaten very quickly. They taste a little like trix cereal to me. Mine flatten out a lot during baking and look like little pancakes maybe because I use butter instead of margarine. Also I've tried freezing them and they do retain their flavor but they stick together a lot even though I flash freeze them first. They are definitely better with the icing.

Easy Weeknight Tuna Pot Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2010
This was so easy and the whole family really liked it. The only problem I had was that it stayed kind of doughy, especially where the crescent rolls overlapped, so next time I will arrange the dough to cover the top with out any overlap. This is a great and simple weeknight dinner and I will definately make it again.

French Market Sandwiches

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2010
This is a pretty good sandwich. I was expecting something more spectacular based on the reviews but it's basically just a warm ham and cheese sandwich. It's good and I will probably make it again, just not amazing.

Apple Crisp Cups

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2010
These were great. I used 6 medium/small apples, 2 granny smith, 2 gala and 1 golden delicious. I think the variety added to the flavor. I cooked the apples with brown sugar instead of white and added some nutmeg and ginger to them. Pressing the crust into the muffin cups took a lot of time so I will probably only make these on special occasions. Also they are very buttery so I might try reducing the butter a little next time.

Raspberry Fudge Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2010
These were pretty good but not great. It was fun to do something a little different with brownies but I don't know if I will make them again. I thought the topping tasted like raspberry yogurt.

Cheddar Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2010
I stuck pretty close to the recipe for this and the whole family loved it. I was out of store bought bread crumbs so I put 3 peices of toast in the food processor with 1/2 tsp of oregano and basil and used that instead. It took about 45 min at 350 for the chicken to be done.

Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2010
This is a family favorite. I use worchestershire sauce instead of steak sauce because I usually don't have steak sauce and I use whatever mustard I have on hand. It's great on the grill but I usually cut the chicken into 1 inch pieces and cook it in a pan indoors, adding the sauce in the last few minutes. It only takes about 15 minutes from start to finish when I cook it that way.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2010
This was pretty good. Everyone finished their plates. I think it was a little too salty but that probably depends on what brand of seasoning packet you use. Next time I will either search for a brand with less salt or I won't use the full packet. Also the sauce was too thick so I added a little bit of milk.

Blonde Brownies I

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2010
These tasted pretty much like a chocolate chip cookie but easier and less time consuming. I made these with about 1/2 cup each of white and bittersweet chocolate chips and I just mixed them into the batter rather than putting them on top. I also omitted the nuts and baked it in a 8x8" pan. Turned out great!

Horseshoe

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2010
We didn't really like this. It was very bland and definitely not worth the calories. In the future when I have a craving for the ingredients in this recipe I will just stick with a regular cheese burger and french fries.

Roasted Vegetables

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2010
This is really good and very flexible. You can use any vegetables that wil hold up to roasting. It's a little time consuming but overall pretty easy. I used this recipe a lot when my kids first started eating solid food because it is was a great way to give them a variety of vegetables that were all soft enough for them to chew.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2010
Very tasty. Based on the other reviews I made a few changes though. I could only fine one of my bread pans so I halved the recipe but still used about 2 cups of zucchini and about 2 tsp cinnamon. I ommited the nuts and used 1/2 c applesauce and only about 2 tbs of vegetable oil. I also used a little less then 1/2 c each of white and brown sugar.

I make my own biscuits but I use this recipe for the orange butter sauce and the method. It's delicious!

Buttery Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2010
These were delicious. The only problem I had was that some of them were a little doughy in the middle. I think it's because I didn't roll the ropes out thin enough. I think each rope probably needs to be about 2 ft long to be skiny enough to prevent this. I will definately be making these again

Polish Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2010
Really yummy. My husband prefers dense dumplings but I usually make the fluffy kind so I made this for him and he loved it. I added carrots to the broth which I will do again in the future. Next time I will probably increase the seasonings as well. For the dumplings: a tbs of salt sounded like to much to me but I was wrong because I only used about 1/2 tbs and they were a little bland. I will definitely use the full amount next time

Elaine's Sweet and Tangy Loose Beef BBQ

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2010
This was pretty good and easy. I only used 1 lb of beef and cut the other ingredients down accordingly. It has a unique flavor and it was a nice change from standard bbq beef but my husband didn't really care for it and while the kids seemed to like it I don't think that it's something they would request so I'm not sure that I'll make it again.

Bean Quesadillas

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2010
Pretty good but a little bland as written. I added a jalapeno, salt, pepper, cumin and more cheese. This is a very easy and flexible recipe and I usually have all of the ingredients in my pantry so it's perfect for those nights when I'm scrambling to figure out what we're going to eat for dinner.

Caramel-Filled Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2010
These were pretty good but not really special. I took some of the others advise and froze the rolos before wraping them in the cookies and it worked well. I used dutch cocoa which made the cookies black. I think it might be fun to do them this way again for halloween and drizzle them with orange and green colored white chocolate.
