This is an excellent salad. I can't have it anymore because of the sugar, but when I did, I found it delicous.

Jewish Apple Cake I

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2008
I found this cake not to be as good as other Jewish Apple Cakes I've made. I did double the recipe as suggested, but that was too much batter. I've had better.

Roasted Vegetables

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2008
Okay, something must have gone wrong. I roasted veggies for a little over 20 minutes and they were burned when I went back to check them. The recipe doesn't say to cover them, so I wondering if this is what I should have done. I was not happy because I buy organic produce. I would try again, either lowering the temperature or cover them.

Barbecue Beef Cups

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2007
I've made this recipe and another one very similiar several times. The other recipes calls for 1 tbsp. brown sugar. My one comment is how fast the meat sometimes dries out. This has to be eaten hot and isn't good left over at all. I didn't have any BBQ sauce the last time I made it, so I did my homemade sloppy joe mixture. My son of course loved it this way since he hates anything spicy. My husband actually says this is one of his favorite meals. Not mine, but very easy and quick when you're busy.

Deep Dish Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2007
After trying probably 8 different brownnie recipes I finally hit the jackpot. Fantastic, chewy and great taste. My daughter said they taste as good as a box mix with I have to agree with. I had just about given up until I made these. Superb! Didn't change anything. What I also like is that there is enough batter in 1 batch that they are fairly thick. No need to double, except if you don't want to run out! Update: The only thing I did different in the second batch was reduce the oven time by 25 degrees for the first 15 minutes. It did help the brownies from getting too hard on the edges.

Mmm-Mmm Better Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2007
I've have tried at least a half a dozen brownie recipes in the last two weeks. My students at school are interested in making brownies, but I won't let them use a box mix. These are definitely a cake consistency, but were tasty. Not overwhelming with chocolate taste. I gave them to my classroom after experimenting and they were gone in 30 seconds. No one raved over them, but at least these were edible and looked that way. I've made some on this website that I've simply dumped in the trash. I didn't change the recipe at all, since I wanted to see how they turn out with the original recipe.

Meaty Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2007
The best sauce I've ever made and one of the best I've tasted. My husband, who hates most homemade spaghetti sauces, moaned the entire he at his dinner. I used brown sugar, not regular sugar and I did not add pepperoni because I don't like it. It you don't like a slightly spicy aftertaste, don't use all the red pepper flakes. It is mild, but my 11 yr. old didn't like the slight hotness. It's so thick you can almost eat it as a meal by itself. First time I've been excited to eat spaghetti in a long time.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2007
Okay, I definitely do not know what the fuss is about. I tried making them twice. The first time I stuck to the original recipe. They were a cake like consistency, but very dense. The second time I omitted the baking powder, trying to get a fudgier consistency. I don't like how the icing gets hard and it doesn't even look appetizing. Definitely not what I expected and would not make ever again.

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2007
I made a half batch of this recipe to try out on my students in my Foods Class. These were 13 and 14 year olds who demolished the cookies I offered. I also took some home to my 11 and 13 year old. They loved the cookies and were fighting for more. My husband didn't like them, but he hates oatmeal cookies. I think it's a childhood thing. Kids tested, mother approved. I had to use 1/2 cup of old fashioned oats since I ran out of quick cooking. They still tasted great and for a person who is hypoglycemic, they didn't make me sleepy.
