Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: May 26, 2013
I just made this. I made 1/2 the recipe, but a little more of the crumb topping, and I liked it but thought it was a bit too sweet. My my husband and daughter, loved it and my neighbor loved it. I also made home-made whipped cream. Would definitely be better served warm. I had Gala Apples, would do it again with Granny Smith, and maybe just a little less sugar.

Indian Sweet Potato and Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2012
This tasted great..and the house smells so good now... and I love the combination of spices. I made the following changes with some ideas from another recipe on this site: I used 3 sweet potatoes, I added three chopped carrots, and one chopped apple. I omitted the spinach and red pepper flakes. I added 1 tsp of cinnamon. I used chicken broth because that was what I had on hand, and I added about 1 1/2 more cups of water. I left it chunky like a stew. I would probably serve it with jasmine rice.

Slow-Cooker Corned Beef and Cabbage

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2010
I added the potatoes and carrots after 3-4 hours so they wouldn't get so mushy, I used baby carrots. I added the cabbage a little too early--so it was a bit too mushy. I rinsed the meat after removing it from the package, before I put it in the crock pot. It was falling apart, but could still be sliced. I loved it, and my daughter who had never had corned beef loved it. My picky son and DH wouldn't try it. But if you're feeding more people, remember that it shrinks up a LOT, so buy the largest one that will fit your crock pot.

Chocolate Velvet Ice Cream

Reviewed: May 5, 2007
I made this last night, it was the first time I tried my new Ice Cream maker. My family loved it!!! I used egg beaters instead of raw eggs and 1/2 & 1/2 instead of heavy cream, and mini choc. chips, next time I think I will try the heavy cream and grated chocolate. Thank you!!

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2007
Excellent Basic Recipe- Thank you., I just took them out of the oven and they are delicious!! I made the following little changes: I put the oatmeal in the food processor and blended it until smooth--because my kids don't know they like oatmeal. I didn't have shortening so I used 3/4 c. margarine + 1/3C. applesauce and I used One Large Egg + one Egg white. I added 1 tsp. vanilla. I also didn't have enough chocolate chips on hand and used less than 1 cup--would have been better with the 2 cups per the recipe.

Mom's Chicken Cacciatore

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2007
I have made this recipe 4 or 5 times now and everyone loves it, I've made it for my husband and for company. I used Baby Bella(Portabello) mushrooms and added extra bell pepper (both red and green) I also added about 1/2 c. of chicken stock to make a little more sauce & because I tend to leave things warming on low a little longer for my Husband to get home from work. Thank you for this great recipe.
