Chow Mein Noodle Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2008
I made this casserole with some suggested changes and some of my own. I omitted the celery since we dont like it, and added some salt, pepper, minced garlic, chinese pea pods, garlic flavored "almond accents," and used beefy mushroom soup instead of the cream of chicken soup. I also added a couple of cans of sliced water chestnuts that I had drained and marinated overnight with low sodium soy sauce. I also increased the amount of rice and kept some chow mein noodles to add on top of each serving. We enjoyed this, but the pea pods look kind of wrinkled if you reheat this the next day.

Mom's Ground Beef Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2008
This was a good recipe for a comfort food. I made a couple of changes...I made the 10 serving size and added an extra can of cheese soup and a couple handfuls of frozen peas. I also increased the amount of cheese to 16 ounces, increased the milk to 1/3 cup and cooked noodles to 8 cups. It turned out more moist that way. I would suggest covering the casserole with some extra cheese to keep the noodles from getting hard.

Herald's Impossibly Easy Cheeseburger Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2008
I didnt have any bisquick so I used cornbread mix instead (mixed up as mix directions said) and I added to the meat mixture 2 cans diced tomatoes, 1 can minced chilies, and 1 tsp hot sauce. I followed the recipe for the rest of the ingredients. The cornbread mix didnt go to the bottom as the bisquick would have, but it was good anyway.

Mahogany Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2008
These wings are fabulous! I doubled the amount of wings and tripled the sauce. Once the wings were done marinating, I boiled it up, thickened it and used it for basting and also to put over top of rice. You can not go wrong with this recipe. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe with us!

Japanese Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2008
These are the absolute best, fabulous wings I've ever eaten. Even my husband (who doesnt care for wings) ate two plates full! The only change I made was to omit the egg. I just floured and fried, then followed the rest of the recipe as written. Except that I did add some sliced scallions just before pouring on the sauce. Totally fabulous!!!!!!!

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2008
Sensational! What more needs to be said? It is sweet, sexy and totally delicious on ham or pork roast. I bet it would be good on chicken too! My entire family raved over it!

Scotch Eggs

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2007
Personally? I loved them and my husband seemed to enjoy them, but my kids (picky eaters, to be sure) didnt like them too much. (I dont like boiled eggs, I dont like hollendaise sauce, etc...) I'm still giving this recipe a 5 star rating because DH and I truly enjoyed them!

Cheesecake Supreme

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2007
This cheesecake is to die for! I followed some of the suggestions the other readers left, and it was gone in one day! My husband declared it to be the best he's ever eaten, and he was born/raised in New York City, the home of the best cheesecake! My kids went for immediate seconds and the whole cake disappeared before our eyes! Yummmmmmm. This is a definate winner in our house.

Roasted Pork Loin

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2007
Oh, this pork roast is to die for, and I usually dont care for pork! The only change I made was to score the pork and marinate overnight and when I roasted it, I added 1 cup beef stock and onions, carrots and potatoes. The wine was added to the juices and thickened for a fabulous gravy. Yummmmmm! Even my picky 5 yr old grandson asked for seconds. There was enough of everything left so I froze them grouped together in labeled ziplock bags for another meal! This is definately a keeper and big hugs for Kathleen!

Gyros Burgers

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2007
We tried this recipe tonight but I guess we were hoping for a taste more like the original gyro meat, so we were disappointed. Thanks for sharing it though. It wasnt terrible, just not what we were hoping for.

Peanut Butter, Mayonnaise, and Lettuce Sandwich

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2007
I was speechless when I saw this recipe, I had to call my husband in to see it! I have been telling him for years that we used to make these great sandwiches, but he never believed me. I love them and this recipe is right on! It does seem "all wrong" but it is great! Thank you for bringing back some wonderful memories...I will start making them again! Try them, you will be surprised and pleased.
