Honey Of An Oatmeal Bread

Puerto Rican Meat Patties

These were super. I used ground lean turkey instead of beef, no fat to drain and no greasy problems with the finished rolls. I added a can of drained black beans. I did use egg roll wrappers and made sure my oil temp was at the 360 specified. Husband and son liked them. The recipe made too many for us so I'll use again for a small gathering with margaritas, beer, layered dip etc... for a football game this fall.

Red Cabbage

A keeper -- Husband came home from work, saw the purple gook and doubted it -- after 3 helpings, he said, "Keep this one!" I served it with mustard porkchops (1 T mustard, 1 T lemon juice, 1/2 tsp. garlic powder, salt pepper) that went great with the tangy cabbage. I cut the cider vinegar down to 1/3 cup and cooked it in a heavy skillet (minus the water) as I didn't have 45 min. to let it cook.

Baked Chicken Breasts Supreme

Very juicy, flavorful chicken. We'll make it again. I doubled the Worcestshire sauce and used celery salt as that's what I had on hand. I think the chicken came out so moist because I kept a LOT of the yogurt mixture on the breast before dredging in breadcrumbs - a LOT of yogurt as I only used 3 breast for the full recipe of marinade. I baked it for the full 45 min. in a glass dish.

Bread Pudding I

I'm giving this 4 stars because while both my husband and 3yo son had second helpings. I couldn't finish mine. I followed the recipe using egg bread. The flavor was great, but I didn't care for the mushy texture. I've never had bread pudding before - maybe it's supposed to be mushy? Just thought I'd warn people out there who are mush-phobes like me.

Jesse and Steve's Fresh Strawberry Cake

I just made this cake and actually, it's really good. I was surprised at the color and density -- though not as dense as a muffin as someone put -- but mine came out more like a carrot cake or apple cake. I think I was used to the white cake mixes with jello and forgot that this had real fruit mashed in it, so of course it's got those dense, fruity areas. Not a pretty cake, again because it's natural. but yummy. Will make again. Oh, I used 1 scant cup white sugar as I had no turbinado sugar. Next time I would bake it in an 8x8 pan to get it some height.
