Fried Pork Chop

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2011
Would have given 5 stars, except that it would have been bland had I not followed the advice of other reviews. I fried for 4 min on each side because I hate dry pork, still was a bit dry but I'm not judging on that, everyone s stove and tastes are different. WARNING! This was the first time I fried anything in that much oil, and I seriously splashed and burned my wrist. Be careful! Overall, delicious! Will make again, with modifications.

Quick and Easy Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
Very good recipe. I think I improved it substantially by following other comments. I tripled the sauce, added a tbsp of cornstarch in cold water at the end, and I also added chopped fresh garlic when I was sauteing the chicken (which I chopped up before cooking). I ran out of soy sauce after the second serving of sauce so I used Worcestershire for the last measurement. Served with basmati rice and corn. I would make this again, with the revisions I used.

Easy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2010
I was doubtful as I put it the mixture of the pan, for it seemed too wet. Sure enough, it was actually too moist. Perhaps with less milk... I normally enjoy a brown sugar or ketchup glaze on meatloaf, but this "sauce" was not very good. Edible, but won't make it again.

Potato, Broccoli and Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2010
Delicious! I bit too salty for my taste, so I added a cup of milk to dilute it a bit. I also didn't want it quite so chunky, so I pureed about 3/4. Added 4 cloves chopped garlic at the end of sauteing the onions. With modifications: 5 stars.

High Temperature Eye-of-Round Roast

Reviewed: May 29, 2010
I followed the recipe exactly, and the thermometer actually dropped in temp as the oven cooled. I turned the heat on to 300, and now it's almost done. It's been in the oven for 3 hours. I have a normal oven, nothing special about it. Will not make again.

Fried Rice Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2010
Good basic recipe. I found the proportion of rice to everything else to be a bit much, but otherwise it was decent. Will make again with tweaks. Needs some green onion.

Scott's Sweet Potato and Butternut Squash Mashers

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2010
Yum. I used half of a large squash and 2 small potatoes. For syrup I used half ED Smith sugar free syrup and half regular pancake syrup. Doesn't need butter, already very moist. Definitely better with salt.

Chicken with Vegetables

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2010
Meh. This wasn't great, but it didn't taste bad either. I didn't have any tomato juice so I used V8 instead. If I made this again (which is unlikely), I would either omit the zucchini or add it later. It came out as mush. In hindsight broccoli would be a good substitute.

Fiesta Fry Pan Dinner

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2009
Yum. I made some changes since I didn't have a few ingredients, and it still turned out great! I used ground turkey. Didn't have taco seasoning so I used the taco seasoning recipe on this site. It is so good and easy that I'll never use the packaged stuff again. Didn't have zucchini, used water chestnuts instead. No corn, so peas. Regular rice instead of instant, and diced instead of stewed tomatoes. Still awesome. I'm curious to try this as is sometime.

Taco Seasoning I

Sooo yummy! I didn't have sea salt. I used table salt, and only 3/4 tsp. Next time I will make it exactly as is. I am never buying the packaged stuff again!

Cocoa Banana Bars

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2009
A bit too sweet, and definitely should be called cake instead of bars. Ok, but I won't make again.

Jollof Rice

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2009
Awesome blend of spices. I made some changes, as I was missing a couple of ingredients: Only had about 1/2 cup frozen green beans, so I used them and added a red bell pepper. Only had basmati rice, and I cooked it separately and added it at the end. To make up for the extra water not being used for the rice, I simmered uncovered for a little while. Delicious dish. Thank you!

Cold Macaroni and Tuna Salad

Kinda boring. It's a good base recipe but it lacks kick. I added 1/2 a diced onion and a couple tablespoons of italian dressing. Turned out awesome with the additions.

A bit too sweet. Will use half the sugar next time. Also added walnuts, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. Will make again, with the above modifications.

Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2008
I made this with bottled teriyaki sauce and chicken breasts last week, and it was phenomenal. So tonight I thought I'd give the actual recipe a try. The chicken is tender, but it's like I'm licking a salt lick. Maybe it would be better with reduced sodium soy sauce, but even then the soy flavour overwhelms everything else and this tastes nothing like teriyaki. Not for me.

Buttery Cooked Carrots

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2007
This was so watery that I had to add some cornstarch, it was like carrot soup. Also added cinammon, salt and pepper, and ended up very good. I may make again without the water and with WAY less margerine.

Potato and Cheese Frittata

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2007
Mine turned out great, because I followed other reviewers and added oregano, thyme, parmesan. I also chopped some bacon and fried it, then fried my finely diced potates in the same pan. Not the healthiest way, but yummy. I only gave 3 stars because this would have been super bland had I not made these changes.

This was the best banana bread I've ever had. I added an extra banana, a bit of cinnamon and some chocolate chips. It's incredible.
