Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2008
I followed the recipe to a T, but cut the chocolate chips to 1 cup. I have baked 3 of these in the last couple days - and everyone is raving! Thank you for the excellent & simple recipe that I will make many times in the future! **follow-up: still making this one! I have increased water to 3/4 cup & reduced oil to same.. not that it makes a huge diff, but every little bit of fat calorie savings is a good thing! you can't tell the difference in the outcome of the cake.. and by the way - I'm still only using 1c chips, 2c would be too many for my taste. THANKS AGAIN!! love it!!

Peanut Crunch Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2008
what a unique cake! the flavors are right on, and it's wonderfully moist. I NEVER follow a recipe exactly, and "almost" did this time.. decided a tad bit more peanut butter was called for, is all! :) co-workers, family & roommate loved it - thank you!!

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2008
I added a 2nd small sweet potato, and probably over-measured the brown sugar by a tad.. but "for me" I followed this one closely - and LOVED it!! big hit with friends too - thanks very much for sharing this dish!! it will be a regular at my table henceforth. :)

Applesauce Loaf Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2008
love it! I too found the quantity SUBSTANTIALLY less than would make 2 loaf pans. it's an excellent & simple recipe tho. the only thing I did differently was sprinkle a cinnamon-sugar on top before baking, to make for a crispy sweet bite.

Sticks and Stones Candy Bark

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2008
yum! very tasty & simple to make. I used spanish peanuts instead of dry roasted, threw in some holiday m&ms, and extra raisins (my fave w/melty chocolate!)... good stuff & everyone loved them!

Applesauce Oatie Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2008
YUM! this is my new favorite oatmeal cookie - and I've been making the old one for 10 years! I did some doctoring, and will probably do a little more.. but this recipe makes an awesome cookie. I found the dough to be too wet (more like a batter), so I added probably 1/3 cup more oats (old fashioned slow-cook) & a tad bit of flour. I also don't like choc chips in my oatmeal cookies, so I used chinnamon chips in place of them. I took another reviewer's suggestion and lessened the salt to 1/2. I found the oven temp too high, so reduced it drastically (350ish), and just watched them close to make sure they didn't get too brown - seems like 13 minutes was just about right. THANK YOU for this one! I'll be making them a lot!

Sausage Cheese Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
the men at parties LOVE this one. I have taken to using spicy turkey sausage, and always add chopped black olives. this is one of those dips you can dump the kitchen sink into, and it just gets better. recipe makes a lot - and that's good, because they will EAT IT! (I use frito's to dip, but good with tortilla chips too)

Chocolate Pretzel Rings

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2009
altho I do them a little different, I'll rate this recipe w/some suggestions (as they're all the same basic taste in the end). I use the tiny knotted pretzels, white chocolate chips (one in each pretzel hole), and then coordinate the m&ms for the season or occasion. people LOVE these at parties - and it's easy to make a lot of them & take a good-sized bowl/plate. my work friends call them "pretzel dammits." try this one - it's simple (altho time consuming), and always a hit!

Peanut Butter Cake II

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2009
I baked this for my roommate's birthday cake, but used the "fluffy peanut butter frosting" instead (thought this one sounded too sweet). he's a peanut butter freak & he RAVED .. and ate every bite. I did sneak a small nibble for myself, and I enjoyed it very much also. I will definitely be making this one again & again. the only thing I changed was that I used "more" peanut butter and "less" butter - don't ask about quantities, I never measure! yummy - and THANKS for this one!!

Peanut Crunch Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2009
I've made this one a couple times, and it's always a hit. I made it "as is" initially, and have played with the peanut butter quantity, as well as switching up the chips. I have one in the oven right now with about 1 1/4 c peanut butter, no peanuts, and I only used chocolate chips (and increased to about 1 1/4 cup). This is a co-workers birthday cake - she'll LOVE it!!

Chocolate Frosting I

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2009
Loved this frosting! Altho, to be honest, I did tweak it a bit. 3/4 cup on the cocoa & 3 cups of the powdered sugar - sheer perfection! Got rave reviews on home-made walnut brownies.. will be a staple henceforth. Thanks Tianne!

Unbelievable Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2009
made this for a family bbq today, several picky eaters in the group. everyone loved it, they raved! the only thing I did slightly different from the recipe.. I marinated, but took about 1/3 out first & used it for basting on the grill. YUMMMMY - this WILL be made again at our house!

Cream Cheese Squares

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2009
I made this one for my diabetic boyfriend.. used splenda in place of sugar, and omitted the melted butter on top. I also added a layer of sugar-free strawberry preserves over the cream cheese. This dessert was a HUGE success and was gone in no time flat!

Blueberry Sour Cream Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2009
I didn't try this one; I made it as a gift for my boyfriend's parents. They both raved! The only thing I did different from the recipe was not to include pecans - didn't have any, and his mom doesn't like them. I will make this for US next time, and will add lemon, use fat free sour cream, reduce the sugar & use 1/2 splenda per another suggestion (bf's diabetic). My plan is to make a glaze for drizzling (confectioners & lemon juice), rather than just the sprinkle of confectioners I used this time. YUM - can't wait to try it again!!

Restaurant-Style Prime Rib Roast

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2009
** updated rating ** I used this recipe on a 20 lb roast on Christmas; the quantity of rub was sufficient, even for the large hunk of meat! the one thing I did a little differently was to cook the roast for 15 at 475 first, then down to 325 for the remainder. I was using a roasting oven, rather than traditional. cooking time was about 3 hours - and the meat was perfect - everyone raved!

Haddock Au Gratin

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
my back was out yesterday and I couldn't stand in the kitchen for long. I had already taken a large chunk of haddock from the freezer .. so I printed this one up for the boyfriend to make for us. altho he said he didn't think he'd like it, he made it anyway.. he talked of how simple it was as he was cooking - and how YUMMY it was as he was eating it! we served it with brown rice cooked in veggie stock & green beans - and had an EXCELLENT dinner without much effort at all! thanks for this one, it's now in the recipe box for future reference! :)

Sweet Potato Pie I

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2009
love this pie! I used a suggestion from a previous rater, and used canned potato instead, to save me the hour on Christmas morning.. and I don't see where it effected the outcome one bit! next time I'm trying homemade crust tho, since I can't seem to find a store-bought version I'm happy with yet.
