Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2015
Very good and very simple! For the ham, I had the deli slice a 1/2 thick piece of Boar's Head tavern ham, then I diced it into small cubes. Used un-peeled red potatoes because I already had them. I sauteed the onion and celery for a few minutes in a tablespoon of butter before adding the water and potatoes and ham. I accidentally used less flour than was required and wondered why my sauce wasn't thickening! (Ooops.) So I used a hand-held potato masher to smush up some of the potatoes in the pot. Worked fine. I will make this again!

Classic Shepherd's Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2013
My family really enjoyed this one. I didn't have tomato juice so I used 8 oz. of tomato sauce and 1/4 cup of water instead. I made it in the morning and it was all ready to put in the oven for dinner. Will make this recipe again and again.

Vegan Lentil, Kale, and Red Onion Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2013
We just finished eating this for supper. Everyone enjoyed it! My only change was to add garlic to the onion/sausage mixture, decrease the oil to about 2 Tablespoons, and use turkey sausage. Will make again.

Chicken Noodle Soup

Made this exactly as printed. Very tasty! Next time I will add the dried parsley closer to the end of cooking time so it stays bright green. Will make again and again.

Baked Ziti

Very good basic recipe. I used a box of rigatoni instead of the 12 ounces of ziti. Still worked out great.

Tasty, simple, and inexpensive. I made it exactly as the recipe stated. Makes more than six servings -- more like 10.

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2010
This looked good in the picture, but came out too burnt/crispy for my taste. I will try again in the future and use others' suggestions for shortening the cooking time.

Shrimp Creole III

Made this recipe as written. The kids and I loved it. Husband said it was good but too watery. I think he didn't use enough rice to soak up the yummy sauce! I will make this again.

A good quick soup. I left out the celery and onion and it was still tasty.

Skillet Chicken and Vegetables

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2010
I used just onions and asparagus with reduced-calorie mayo. Everyone in my family LOVED it. They kept asking "what's the sauce?"? I told them it was mayo and they didn't believe me. Next time I will add fresh garlic, mushrooms, and maybe the red bell pepper for color.

Really good. Deserves a 5 star because it is so simple and inexpensive. I added celery, extra onion, extra garlic, 2 bay leaves, etc. Followed suggestions from others. Family loved it, and that's all that matters!

Crab Crusted Grouper

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2008
I've made this recipe 3 or 4 times. I've used grouper, tilapia, and snapper. I double the topping but reduce the butter and omit the jalapeno (for the kids). It is SO good. My children love it. This is now one of my new "go to" recipes when I'm out of ideas for dinner.
