My first blog entry

Going backwards Z to A are my initials using my nickname first, and my last name last.

I love cooking and just got a new stand mixer to replace my :( 20-year-old mixer.
I got some new tools I have seen on PBS cooking shows that sparked my ideas for making cooking and baking easier, and to have new kitchen adventures.

I eat gluten free and dairy free (for the casein in dairy that bothers arthritis). I cook for family that does not need to eat like I do. They do love the cookies I make that I can eat too. I started using clarified butter as the casein proteins are filtered out according to what I have read. Nice to have butter flavor back in my baked goods.

May you all have wonderful holiday joy.

About Me
1. I am allergic to Poppy Seeds. Just a few make me itch all over. I wish I could share that for any person that does not know why they are itching all over! Family loves to eat what I cook. I am happy to eat what my husband cooks: he is a good cook too, so we share the kitchen. Born and raised in Minnesota. Lived in California for a decade before moving back to MN. Love getting ideas from other people.
My favorite things to cook
Roast beef: rump roast in a cast-iron dutch oven. Apple pie; chocolate chip cookies, butterscotch chip cookies: with lots of vanilla, and using Smart Balance instead of butter or shortening, for health reasons, but a benefit...Soft Cookies, ooh!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Get back to you on that.
My cooking triumphs
For Christmas 2013 I brought the meal for eight people to my in-laws' house. All food was gluten-free, and dairy-free. My mother-in-law was moved to tears, so happy to have all work done for her. She is over age 80. I roasted two turkey breasts, made a bread stuffing side dish, mashed potatoes. For dessert I made a Surprise Inside Christmas Tree cake, cocoa butter and cocoa chocolate candies, and neapolitan cookies.
