Watermelon Vodka Slush

Reviewed: May 30, 2010
Made the first batch of this as directed in the recipe, used Midori, we liked it quite a bit- but made the second batch with lime juice and some lime zest, and watermelon Pucker--- way too sweet. So this third time we found the perfect blend for us, which is to use Midori and substitute lime juice for the lemon with a little zest, too. Yummy and thanks for the recipe. :)

Mississippi Six

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2008
I started making this a couple years ago for football parties and now family and friends demand I bring it every time there's a get-together. My husband even has me make it for supper sometimes! I usually double the dried beef. Super, super yummy.

Garlic Parmesan Orzo

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2007
I always increase the garlic and parmesan in this recipe per my husband's taste. This is a yummy, reliable side that goes with anything.Sometimes I steam a bag of frozen italian veggies and mix them right in with the orzo, really good!

Flatlander Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2007
I didn't have tomato juice on hand, so I replaced the sauce and juice with the equivalent amount of stewed tomatoes and their juice. My husband loves onions and cumin, so I nearly doubled both. I fried the onions in with the ground beef so they would be carmelized and yummy. Instead of plain red beans, I used 2 cans of chili-style beans with their sauce. I also replaced the white sugar with a sprinkling of brown. This all made for a rich, super-flavorful, stick-to-your-ribs chili that my husband and daughter really loved! Yum!

Cocktail Wieners I

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2007
I was out of chili sauce, so I replaced it with cocktail sauce, and gave the mixture a squeeze of lemon juice, and a sprinkling of brown sugar. The cranberry sauce made a really nice thick sauce that coated the wieners well! My husband couldn't stop eating them the first time and requests them often.
