About this Cook
I loved to experiment with new recipes and try different foods. My husband and daughter, however, are more timid in trying new dishes. I always have to keep their preferences in mind when I serve them a new recipe.
My favorite things to cook
Pasta! I love experimenting with different cheeses and vegetables in pastas. Also, desserts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Big Sunday dinners, usually a roast. Salmon patties with mac-and-cheese. Porcupine meatballs. Caramel popcorn!
My cooking triumphs
Copying a recipe I loved strictly by experimenting with ingredients until stumbling upon the right mix. It's a chicken/zucchini/yellow squash pasta toss that the whole family loves.
My cooking tragedies
For the first few years after we moved into our house here in MN, I often burned things. I started to think I was getting absent-minded and not paying attention until my mother-in-law burned a pie in my oven. She bought an oven thermometer and we discovered my oven heats 75 degrees too hot!

Runzas (Bierocks)
The only thing I add to these is cheese. I freeze extra filling so I can make more for another meal.

Melt In Your Mouth Blueberry Cake
I followed the recipe exactly. Perfect, delicious, lightly sweet, moist! Add a dollop of whipped cream or a small scoop of ice cream when served warm.

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue
I make this all the time - just put everything in the crock pot before you go to work. When you come home, shred it and serve as sandwiches.
