The consistency is good, as is the color, but even using Hunts tomatoes (as was rec'd), cumin, and chili powder, it was still too tomato tasting for my taste. It needs something more ... lots more. I ended up adding balsamic vinegar, a lot of cumin and chili powder, some onion powder, garlic powder, and a couple of chilies in adobo sauce before getting it to taste like anything other than "just tomatoes". I'm not sure what the rave reviews are all about. Without all the doctoring I did, this was plain.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

These weren't all they were described to be. They were soft, but lacked color and crisp edges. I usually make the Tollhouse recipe, and the cookies come out perfectly. With this one though, they didn't compare. Stick with Tollhouse.

Best Spanish Rice

This is ok, nothing special. I prefer starting with chicken stock, using a can of tomato sauce, cumin, and mexican spices. Tastes more authentic that way. This is similar to a rice a roni type mexican rice. Meh.

Slow-Cooked Chili

My husband and I both love this recipe. It's the best chili recipe I've tried. I used stew meat or cubed chicken breast instead of ground beef (as I don't care for ground beef in chili), but it comes out wonderfully this way. I also add a couple of teaspoons of cumin for some smokiness and use rotel diced tomatoes for chili instead of plain. A hit every time! Thanks for this recipe!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Ok cookie recipe. They are just ok as is, if not a bit bland. Next time I'll add some lemon flavor or something, because even with doubling the vanilla extract, they still weren't fantastic.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Best pancake recipe I've tried, yet. They are better than the pancakes offered by Cracker Barrel and all of the other big breakfast chains. Delicious! Cook in pats of butter for good crispy edges, with soft centers. YUM!

French Toast I

Delicious. I've made the toast twice now, and both times it was fantastic. I read someone's comment that it took too long to cook, but I didn't have that problem. The secret it, make sure your griddle is hot before putting the toast on it. I also cooked it in butter, which added a flavor element, and the nutmeg gives it an extra something. NICE!

Easy Frozen Margaritas

These are soooo good! I have made them twice now and each time I've loved them! They're better than any I've had in restaurants. ? I have frozen leftovers of the margaritas in a large plastic containter, too. They freeze well, not hard, but into a slush which can be enjoyed anytime without having to make a new batch!

Zesty Bean Dip

This is even better with Chihuahua cheese or queso cheese (as it's also called) instead of cheddar. I half the taco seasoning and use a teaspoon of cumin. Sooo good!

Better Than Sex Cake II

Loved this cake, and so did my in-laws, and neighbors (who I shared it with). Used the entire can of sweetened condensed milk, and a large 20-ounce jar of butterscotch caramel topping. Used light cool whip, and 5 total, regular size Heath bars. It was perfect this way! Everyone loved it, as did I! WONDERFUL!

Cheesy Potato Casserole

I gave this a four. I love this, but I try to lighten it up a bit, because as it is it's really unhealthy. I use light cheddar cheese, light sour cream, and 1/2 the butter called for here, and it's still every bit as good as the original. I also use cream of chicken soup instead of cream of mushroom, which to me tastes a lot better, and I skip the onions.

Fresh Peach Cobbler I

Excellent cobbler! I only changed two things...I added more cinammon than the recipe calls for (1/2 teaspoon instead of just 1/4) because I love big cinammon flavor in a cobbler, and I used orange juice in the filling instead of lemon because I didn't have any lemon juice. Turned out wonderfully just the same. Thanks for this wonderful recipe!
