Frosted Cranberries

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2007
I used corn syrup instead of egg. They are beautiful. I filled a vase with them and put a candle in it for a cheap and pretty centerpiece.

Olive Cheese Melts

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2007
So glad I found this recipe! My grandma used to make this often! I omitted the salt and found that the amount of curry powder was right on for my husband and I. I used red onions with good results. Thanks for such a yummy and easy recipe!

Mimi's Smoked Salmon Chowder

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2008
Wow! DH and I loved this. Very tasty and simple to make. I made a few changes: skipped the dill, used low fat evaporated milk, and added corn and white beans.

Spicy Black and Red Bean Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2006
Super yummy and healthy!! I made the following adaptations: vegetable broth instead of chicken broth, only one can of tomatoes, used a full cup of green chiles, used one minced hot pepper, and cayenne pepper to taste. With those adjustments, it was hot to our liking. Thanks for the recipe!

Peanut Butter Banana Bread

Reviewed: May 25, 2007
Good and easy! I added chocolate chips, vanilla, and cinnamon. I also used 1/2 c. brown sugar and 1/2 c. white sugar, instead of all white sugar. Thanks for the recipe!

Butterscotch Cookie Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2007
I found these a little sweet and a little chewy for my taste. However, my husband raved about them like you wouldn't believe! I took them to a dinner party and they were received well there too. I skipped the raisens and found that in my oven, 21 minutes was enough. Thanks for the recipe!

French Onion Soup VIII

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2006
I made this a couple nights ago and the hubby loved it. I thought it was a bit sweet but good, perhaps it was the wine I used. The only subsitution I made was vegetable broth instead of beef broth. I do agree with other reviewers about both the longer cook time for the onions and that it really only serves about 3. Good recipe. Thanks.

Evil Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2009
Truly evil! Once people had a bite, they totally understood the name! Very well-received by our group. Perfect as is, but I have switched out the butterscotch chips for flaked coconut from time to time. DH loves the coconut version!

Gingerbread Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2007
This turned out great for me! I was heavy handed with all the spices and added cloves. I used my own cream cheese frosting recipe, so I can't comment on that part. Thanks for the recipe!

Fabulous French Loaves

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2007
This was a bakery style French bread, if you steamed your oven (I put ice cubes in a cast iron skillet). Very crusty and good flavor. Thanks for the recipe!

Poor Man's Caviar

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2008
Great! I added the juice of a key lime and skipped the oil. Next time I might add salt, pepper, and some seasoning.

Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2008
Great texture! I made a few changes: added cinnamon, used sour cream instead of yogurt, and used half brown sugar/half white sugar. I also made a loaf, which baked for about an hour. Thanks for a great recipe!

Cinnamon Raisin Bread I

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2007
So good! I added some nutmeg and ground cloves to the cinnamon sugar mixture. I was worried that I had messed up because my loaves had lots of air pockets after the second rising, but they turned out perfect! Thank you for the recipe!

Blueberry Ricotta Squares

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2007
I have mixed feelings about this recipe. I would give it 3.5 stars if I could. Personally, I liked it though I do think it was too dry. My husband didn't care for it. My friend loved it--he said it was a cross between coffee cake and a cheese Danish. So three different reviews from three people. My only change was to use almond extract instead of the lemon flavor.

Honey Wheat Bread I

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2007
I am a novice bread baker and this was easy to make! The texture is great and I even messed up and used 3 c. wheat flour and 2 c. white flour (instead of the inverse which the recipe states). Great bread! Thank you for the recipe!

Aunt Millie's Broccoli Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2006
This vanished at Thanksgiving and my husband is so sad that there aren't leftovers! It was very yummy. I used cream of broccoli soup instead of mushroom and sharp cheddar instead of American cheese. Next time I will reduce the pepper for our tastes. Thanks for a great recipe!

I had no idea making pudding was so easy! No more box pudding for us-this tastes much better! FYI, skim milk works fine.

Tomato-Cream Sauce for Pasta

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2006
My husband and I loved this sauce. It was very easy and very tasty. The only changes I made was to use fat free evaporated milk instead of cream and to put the sauce in the blender briefly to smooth out the tomato chunks. Neither of us missed the fat of the cream. Thanks so much for a great recipe! eta: made this again for a spaghetti potluck and added cayenne pepper to taste. Very popular!

Grandma's Famous Salmon Cakes

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2006
My husband and I loved this! I did roll the patties in seasoned breadcrumbs before putting them in the pan. This recipe is very easy and lends itself easily to a little experimentation. I will make again.
