About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
are italian pasta dishes and hearty meals that typically include meat. I love garlic pastas and sauces and my family loves comfort foods like swedish meatballs, meatloaf, pork chops, chili and soups.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I cook every holiday and my partner is especially fond of Thanksgiving (her favorite holiday). As for tradition I guess I would say that I make holiday cookies every year with my daughter, nieces and nephews just as my mother did with us and I cook large extravagant meals from scratch on Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.
My cooking triumphs
Every time I cook it is a success (almost):) Some people just know how naturally.
My cooking tragedies
I made a quiche once that had a green chile and onion base and the entire thing tasted like onion. I LOVE ONION this thing was YUCK!

Real Wisconsin Fried Cheese Curds
I made these using a ranch dill white cheddar curd. My family, living in SE MN and growing up on cheese curds, decided these were the best curds they have ever eaten.

Spaghetti Pie III
My family really liked this dish to my surprise, but I did not use green peppers. Also, I used Mozzarella Cheese, fresh shredded, instead of cheddar. I gave this four stars because I found there was not nearly enough sauce for the dish...but we have made it a few times since I found the recipe.

Tomatillo Soup
I did not want to give this recipe a rating because I do not think it is fair but I was forced. I think maybe it is my personal taste and not the actual recipe itself. I hated this soup. The man who eats everything in this house (and I mean everything!) took two tastes and refused another bite. I followed the recipe to a tee. The only thing I did different was strain the soup off so that it was nothing but the broth. The whole thing tasted like I dumped a bottle of vinegar in it. I realize tomatillos are tangy but ughhh. I do think it might be us and our tastes more than the recipe. Whoever tries this, I strongly recommend making it before trying it on company and when you do make it, make it without being concerned if you have to throw it out.
