About this Cook
I am a mother of one adult son. Single for many years and recently remarried. I am a licensed Gas Tech 1 and Refrigeration/Air Conditioning Mechanic. I also drive tractor trailer and operate heavy equipment. For enjoyment at home I play the piano and cook. I love to create meals. My husband asks how did you make that? I have a hard time telling him as I just add what I feel like from experience and it seems to work. Sometimes I look at a base recipe and then make it my own by adding the ingredients I think I would like and majority of the time it turns out great!!!!
My favorite things to cook
Suppers in the oven or on the barbecue. I love cooking with spices and wine. Fresh vegetables and herbs are a favourite. Pasta dishes and Thai dishes are fun to create.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have had many Thanksgiving dinners for my whole family. Usually about 35 people attend. Favourites are of course, traditional stuffed turkey, Mashed or scalloped potatoes, turnip, parsnips, various traditional salads, and of course, pumpkin pies.
My cooking triumphs
I have had many cooking triumphs. One family gathering I made Lasagna, ceasar salad, buns, roast beef, scalloped potatoes and all loved the meal. My lemon herb Italian grill kabobs on the barbecue are great! My barbecued spareribs are to die for according to our kids.
My cooking tragedies
Baking has not been a strong point. I am not a desert lover and it shows. An angel food cake spilling all over the someone else's oven because I did not use a big enough pan was not thrilling. I have had no other real tragedies but deserts are not my strong point.
