About this Cook
I was active duty in the USAF from 1978 thru 1992. My initial career field was Combat Arms Training & Maintenance (CATM) but years later retrained to become a Base Career Advisor (BCA). After leaving the military, I worked in a retail pharmacy. When I first joined AR in 2006, I was known as "pharmgirl." In 2008, my first and only grandchild was born. She could not pronounce "Grandma" instead saying "Bambam." Today, she still calls me Bambam as do some of her teachers in school. Therefore, I am..... Bambam!
My favorite things to cook

My favorite family cooking traditions

Turkey Gravy from McCormick(R)
Two stars for a good laugh. I guess this sponsored recipe is one way of paying the bills. I do have a question though. We discussed this recipe on the Buzz and were wondering after adding ONE cup water to the packaged mix, how does it make 5 cups of gravy?

Spinach Brownies
I have made these twice. The first time, they had a strong flour taste because I ignored an important step(step 3) so please don't do what I did and dump the flour into the spinach and attempt to mix. It doesn't work as the flour does not mix evenly into the spinach mixture. The second time, I did as instructed and mixed the dry ingredients together before adding the spinach and cheese to the dry mixture. It's amazing what happens when you follow directions!! Although very good, I felt it was a bit too salty and will cut down on the salt next time. This recipe also worked well for me using GF flour. Thanks for the recipe, bowlingnut!

Patty Melt on Pumpernickel
I have been wanting to make this recipe for a while but I never had the pumpernickel or rye bread on hand. I finally decided to make my own bread using the perfect bread found on this site. (Caraway Rye bread by BramptonMommyof2). I was never a fan of steak sauce until I tried a store brand (Kroger's). It is a sweet and spicy type steak sauce which worked perfectly with this recipe. Using my thumb, I indented the center of each patty to help with even cooking and to keep its shape. The patties were wonderfully juicy and tasty. Putting it altogether with the spices, onions, Swiss cheese and freshly made rye bread was excellent. And I even had Clorox wipes on-hand to clean up my mess afterwards. Thanks Clorox, this is an outstanding sandwich!
