Norwegian Waffles

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2014
These waffles were very tasty. I baked them in my Belgian waffle iron. The dough is very airy and suites that type of iron well.

No-Bake Chocolate Yule Log with Chocolate Mushrooms

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2014
I made it exactly as the recipe said with one exception. I added some vanilla pudding, as one reviewer suggested, to the cream mixture to make it more stable. The flavor and texture were great. However, if the yule log is not eaten by the day after it is made, the frosting loses its fluff.

Just Like Wendy's® Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2014
I followed the recipe exactly. It does taste like Wendy's Chili. However it is also a bit sweet for my taste buds, as is Wendy's Chili. I am going to use either Mexican or plain canned tomatoes for part of the stewed tomatoes next time.

Fruit Dip II

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2010
I have made this for years, but in my family, we like lime 1 tablespoon or so of lime juice added. It gives the dip a creamier, smoother consistency.

Potato Klubb (Norwegian Potato Dumplings)

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2009
My son made this with me for Easter Brunch. He deceided to fry a pound of bacon and then crumble it up and mix it in the dough. He also could find only organic red potatoes at the store. There was almost no water that drained off them. I have made these for over 30 years and this was the best batch I have ever had. We called it Krub in my family too. We make them about tennis ball size and then slightly flatten them. They cook faster that way. My mom made them the size of baseballs and they took much longer to cook. Good comfort food.

White Chili I

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2008
I have made this chili several times. It is healthy and delicious. I have substituted ground turkey, ground chicken breast and precooked cubed chicken breast, all of these sustitutions tasted great. I like the small white beans better than the larger ones. I make a batch and freeze it in single portions to take to work with me. It freezes well.

Popcorn Cake II

Reviewed: May 27, 2007
This is a nice "cake" to make in the summer when you do not want to bake. The marshmellows give it a kind of Rice Krispi bar taste. It is colorful and kids of all ages love it!

One Bowl Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: May 4, 2007
I made this with butter and 1/2 & 1/2. I wanted a vanilla frosing so I left out the cocoa powder. It had a nice creamy texture and spread beautifully. But the best part was how it tasted . . . I will make it often

Tiropitas

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2007
I only used 1/2 cup butter and these got too greasey and not flaky at all. I thought the filling had too much egg and not enough cheese even though I used 10 oz of feta cheese. I also used my mixer on low to mix everything and I wonder if that put too much air into the filling. Next time I plan on using one less egg, more feta and I will dab the butter around like another person said. My husband loves Tiropitas so much I really want to perfect this recipe.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2007
Excellent! Much better than our family recipe which has been handed down for 4 generations. That saddens me a little but I will keep the family recipe and bake this one. I'll make this my new family recipe. Moist and you can really taste the bananas.

Cherry Coconut Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2006
This has been a bar I've made for years. My husband has to have it every Christmas. I too double the recipe. I also bake the crust for a 20 minutes. I found it works well to lower the temperatue of the oven to 325 degrees during the last ten minutes of baking. Then the edges don't get so brown. compared to the outside edges

Slow Cooker Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2006
I will make it again and again and again. It was so tasty and since I have a small oven it was nice to use my slow cooker. I used dried bread cubes from my local bakery and use all the liquid. It was nice and moist, but you could still dicern the individual bread cubes. Make it, you will like it.

Cranberry Fluff

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2006
I got this recipe from my mother-in-law who lives near Williston, North Dakota. It is delicious and my family has to have it every Thanksgiving. I also add 1/2 cup walnuts and my family likes pineapple instead of the grapes.
