Asian Ginger Dressing

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2014
This is AWESOME! I make this and leave it in the fridge and use it on everything! It is really good on fresh sliced avocados. I use it to marinade chicken, or ahi tuna before searing the tuna. I also add 1 teaspoon of sesame oil because I like the flavor the sesame oil adds.

The Real Mojito

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2014
Thanks for the recipe. I liked it a lot. It was fine to me with just the granulated sugar but it did not dissolve like I would have liked, even shaking it like crazy. (if you are going to shake it, don't shake it with the club soda, add the club soda after shaking). Next time I will try to use the simple syrup like others suggested.

Alaska Salmon Bake with Pecan Crunch Coating

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2014
This is wonderful. I used Extra Virgin Olive Oil instead of butter to make it healthier. I also used Panko bread crumbs so it would be lighter. I mixed in a little olive oil into the bread crumb mixture to make them stick together a little better. I used a filet with the skin on and seared the filet, skin side down, in a pan on the stove before I put it in the oven to make the skin crispy, the fish comes off of the skin better when eating it.

Chef John's Banana Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2013
This was great! I like it because it was not too sweet like some I have baked before. I live at a high altitude and I did not have to change any of the ingredient measurements. I also used cake flour. I was out of walnuts and chocolate chips but needed to cook the bananas I had and it was great without them. Nice warm with butter.

Cucumber Sunomono

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2013
I like this recipe. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because I do like to add a splash or two of soy sauce to mine, I think the soy sauce gives it that flavor it's missing. We have a local restaurant that serves a mixed green salad topped with sunomono, carrots, bell peppers, Maifun (rice noodles), diced avocado and seared tuna with a soy ginger dressing. This recipe taste exactly like the restaurant makes their cucumbers that they put on the salad.

Sweet Restaurant Slaw

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2013
This is great with the rootbeer pulled pork that is on this site that is cooked in the slow cooker!!! I cut back on the sugar, used 1/4 cup. I added a few extra splashes of vinegar until I liked the taste ( I prefer a more vinegar taste than sweet) My grocery store only had a bag of shredded green cabbage so I shredded my own carrots and then used shredded radishes. Great summer time, BBQ dish to bring to a pot luck too!!

Smooth Sweet Tea

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2012
Thank you for posting this recipe. Wow! I have been trying to make sweet tea for years without any success. I never knew about the baking soda trick. IT WORKS!!!! I used 1/4 teaspoon. I also used Luzianne tea bags and white sugar. It makes it pretty sweet so if you don't like your tea really sweet, try using 1/4 cup less sugar.

Marinated Flank Steak

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2012
Delicious!! I use this all of the time! I use lime juice instead of lemon and I add a 1/2 cup of chopped cilantro. Gives it more of a fajita flavor. If I have tequila on hand I will toss a tablespoon of that into the marinade.

Goat Cheese and Arugula over Penne

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2011
Excellent!! I made it with whole wheat penne. Yummy. I also sautéed my garlic for a couple minutes because I don't like to eat raw garlic. I also saved a little of the pasta water and added that to the dish.

Key West Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2011
This is awesome!! I marinated all day and turned the chicken periodically throughout the day. I doubled the recipe and used a tablespoon more of lime juice. I was out of fresh garlic so I used powdered garlic. I also zested the lime and added the zest to the marinade. My husband loved it and my picky three ear old even ate it and asked for more. I bet this would be great on grilled shrimp!! Think I will try that next.

Easy Granola Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2011
This is a great recipe. I actually forgot to add the butter and did not realize until after I baked them but they were still good and chewy. I cooked for 23 minutes and they are chewy. I also added 1/4 cup of flaxseed meal and you can't even tell.

Actually Delicious Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2009
These are excellent! I have had turkey burgers before and they were very dry but this recipe is great. I followed other advice and added the whole egg, I also added a teaspoon of Worcestershire and two cloves of garlic instead of one. We cooked them on a gas grill for about 20 minutes because I like thick burgers. Thanks for sharing! I like these better than beef burgers.

Artichoke Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2009
This was really good. I did make some changes that is why I have a 4 star review. This is a great base recipe. The changes I made are as follows. I added 1/2 cup of fresh chopped spinach, I used just 1/4 cup of Mayonnaise (helmans light) and the rest light sour cream. I added salt and black pepper and garlic powder to the mixture (just to taste not sure on the amounts). I also added two tablespoons of panko bread crumbs for texture to the mixture. I also seasoned my chicken with salt and pepper before adding topping. After adding topping on chicken I sprinkled panko bread crumbs on top of each breast to add a little crunchiness to the topping. Loved it!!!

Baked Dijon Salmon

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2009
This is awesome! I used panko bread crumbs because I like the light texture they add. Also I used unsalted butter. Perfect. Thank you for sharing. This is my new go to recipe for salmon, especially if I am going to have guests over.

Asian Avocado

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2009
Grocery store had avocados on sale for 88cents each so I was looking for recipes and found this one and glad I did. What a change from just plain old avocados. I love this recipe. It is perfect. I did add a small squeeze of lime juice to the mix. Thanks for this new twist on avocados!

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2009
I thought this sounded weird, root beer and pork?? I tried it based on the reviews and I was not disappointed. This is very good. I did add 1 small onion coarsely chopped and two cloves of garlic, smashed, to the broth to add some extra flavor. The pork was tender, sweet and flavorful. What a super easy way to cook pulled pork. I will definitely make this again.

Irresistible Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2008
This is such a great recipe. I have made this for the last three thanksgivings and always get great compliments. I don't make my own pie crust because I am lazy so I use a frozen one, Marie Callenders is the best, no one ever complains about the frozen crust either. I do add foil around the crust to keep it from burning and take it off towards the end to let the edges get golden brown. I also add a splash of bourbon and a teaspoon of good quality vanilla extract. This pie bakes perfect every time. Thanks for the recipe, this is definitely a keeper.

Sloppy Joe Sandwiches

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2008
This is the best sloppy joe recipe I have made from scratch. My family loved them, and we had the leftovers the next day for lunch and they were even better. I was out of ketchup so I used a can of rotel tomatoes and tomato paste to make a "ketchup" and they were really good this way. Because of the rotel, there were chunks of tomatoes, which I liked and they had a little spice to them which is always nice. Thanks for the recipe!!!
