I'd never tasted this before (the mix of ingredients scared me), but it is a popular salad in our area, so I made it for a friend's annual 4th of July cookout. Of course, I have to taste everything I make, & BOY-HOWDY, this is good stuff! I did not have white wine vinegar, but I do have tarragon vinegar, so I made that substitution. I used actual mayo, not a MW-type salad dressing. If you substitute salad dressing for the mayo, I would cut back on the sugar. For the record, my DH HATES mayo; will only use salad dressing, & he LOVES this salad. Also, because none of my salad bowls fit in my cooler, I mixed the sauce together, then added everything to a gallon storage bag & tossed it around to mix (great way for kids to help!). After mixing everything up, the amount of raisins seemed a bit lacking to me, so I added about 1/4 c. more. This was the first salad gone, & I'll be making a double batch for the event next year. Thank you for the great recipie, & for expanding my taste horizons.
