Easy Vodka Sauce

These are some really good burgers! And so ridiculously easy to throw together. I used a whole egg and it was fine. We will definitely have these again!

Venison Bacon Burgers

Very good burgers! This was my first time cooking with venison so I wasn't quite sure what to expect regarding the flavor and was pleasantly surprised. Pan-fried indoors and topped with guacamole, sauteed mushrooms, and Swiss cheese. Served with onion rings on the side.

Microwavable Chocolate Fudge

Super easy! This is not gourmet fudge but it's easy enough for kids to make and yummy enough to serve with the other holiday candies and cookies. I used half the nuts and added a 4oz. package of candied cherries, chopped.

Southwestern Turkey Soup

Good way to use up leftover Thanksgiving turkey. Everyone enjoyed this at dinner last night. I sauteed the onion and garlic in olive oil prior to adding the remaining ingredients. Used the stewed tomatoes with celery/onion/garlic and omitted the additional fresh tomatoes since I was adding a can of black beans and a small can of corn. Left out the avocado and sour cream. Topped with Mexican blend cheese.

Butternut Squash Soup with Spinach Ravioli

I doubled the amount of squash (roasting and cubing prior to adding) and used green onions instead of leeks. Everything was going along great...The soup smelled fabulous, the flavor was fantastic...then I added the cream. Big mistake. The cream had the effect of thickening the soup and mellowing the flavors too much. Used spinach/cheese tortellini and it went well, under the circumstances. The flavors definitely say "fall" so I'll try this soup again but only as a first course and omit the cream entirely.

Apple Goat Cheese Bruschetta

I found the flavor combination odd. Didn't care for the black pepper with the apple. I used Brie but I really don't think I would feel any different had I used goat cheese. I like the idea of using apples in bruschetta but this is just not what I was looking for.

Bloody Broken Glass Cupcakes

Five stars for presentation! Excellent for Halloween! I made Devil's food cupcakes from a mix and topped them with vanilla frosting. Only used this recipe for the glass and blood. The glass recipe is fantastic - don't change a thing! Boiled the mixture to 300* and poured it in a parchment lined jelly roll pan which ended up making the glass the perfect thickness. Let it cool, removed from the pan, covered with another piece of parchment and hit it with a hammer. It shattered like real glass!! As for the blood, I did not add any water at all and I'm glad I didn't as I think it would have been way too watery. The consistency is perfect without water. Also, only used one drop of blue color. For 12 cupcakes, I'll cut the glass and blood recipes in half next year as I have alot leftover. Update: Store in refrigerator. Otherwise, glass melts overnight and no longer looks good.

Hot Bean Dip

Yum! Hubby commented how this has so much more flavor than the more plain bean/cheese dips. Cut the recipe in half and had more than enough for for five as an appetizer. Separated into two small baking dishes. Served with roasted garlic/black bean tortilla chips.

Pumpkin Crunch Parfaits

I tripled the pumpkin pie spice and the flavor was great. I definitelty think it would have been too bland for us otherwise. The reason for the three stars is the consistency was just too thin for our tastes. I will make this again but reduce the amount of milk to maybe 1/2c for a thicker more pudding-y consistency.

Pierogies and Cabbage

Yum! First time serving pierogies and we devoured this meal! Doubled the recipe and omitted the vegetable oil completely. Served with Polish sausage but it really wasn't necessary as this is a meal in itself.

Baked Beans II

Delicious! Went well with the 4th of July menu. Used vegtarian beans as I prefer to add my own meat. Cooked the bacon in a skillet until almost done before chopping and adding to the bean mixture to bake.
