Cheesy Potato and Corn Chowder

This is wonderful, I really wasn't expecting to love it so much. As suggested by others I used 50% half and half and 50% milk (skim). I pan fried about 6 slices of bacon and used the fat to cook the vegetables. I used 1/2 carrots and 1/2 celery. Instead of Mexican Velveeta (yuck) I used a Mexican blend cheese and added a few dashes of hot sauce. This is amazing paired with beer bread on a cold day.

Easy Beer Bread Mix

This is really very good. I used a dark German bock beer and could really taste it. The only thing that tasted a little off was the Italian seasoning. It just really didn't belong. Next time I'll leave it out and make 5 star bread :) The onion powder, on the contrary, really works with the beer and adds a great flavor.

Slow-Cooked German Short Ribs

These are fabulous!! My picky husband requested them for our Christmas Eve meal, in place of my ham which he really loves. They had a great hint of spice/heat that really made them delicious. I only made 1.5 lbs of ribs but still made the same amount of sauce and was glad that I did. We'll make these again and again.

Garlic Green Beans

These were pretty good but I modified the recipe. I LOVE garlic but cut the amount by at least half and they had plenty of garlic. I also used half the amount of the oils/butter and they were still pretty greasy. The cheese kind of clumped up a minute after I sprinkled it and looked unattractive. I won't make these again.

Pizza On The Grill I

This was really good and a different take on pizza. I did follow the advice to remove the pizza from the grill in order to apply the toppings and was glad I did. You don't have much time to spare before the pizza will burn. We'll make this again!

Scott Hibb's Amazing Whisky Grilled Baby Back Ribs

This was okay. I was really disappointed after reading all of the positive reviews. This sauce really doesn't have anything special to it. I was hoping that it might be as good as Stubb's hickory bourbon sauce but it is nowhere close. This was too sweet and really didn't have the zip that we were looking for. I followed the recipe exactly. I'm sorry, I know I'm in the minority but this tasted exactly like a for-the-masses sauce that you'd get at a rib joint. I won't make it again. The cooking instructions for the ribs were spot on. I did take some reviewers' advice to add some water to each rib packet and was glad that I did. Our ribs were very tender although not close to falling off of the bone.

Marinated Ranch Broiled Chicken

This was very good - not "oh my gosh I can't wait to make this again" good but pretty good. I will make it again, it was pretty simple. The marinade came out so thick that I knew the chicken wouldn't be covered by it so I had to add more oil to loosen it up a bit.

Angela's Awesome Enchiladas

These were awesome! My husband and I both loved them. We used light ingredients where possible to keep the fat/calorie levels in check (98% fat free soup/lower calorie tortillas/skim milk cheese/light sour cream) and I did bake the chicken instead of boiling it but otherwise made the recipe exactly as called for. We used Old El Paso Hot Enchilada sauce and it really gave it a nice kick. This recipe is perfect and we will make it many more times!

Bacon Wrapped Hamburgers

These were really good. I used very low fat (96% lean) ground beef which usually makes for a pretty dry burger but this recipe really made it juicy. I completely missed the ketchup in the recipe, I'll try it next time. I'm not sure that the bacon did much but it tasted good. I don't think I'll make a traditional hamburger ever again!

Sarge's EZ Pulled Pork BBQ

This was really good. I did add 1 tsp of liquid smoke to the mixture and was glad that I did. I don't think that the coffee really added much but we did use BBQ sauce with it so it may have been masked. I will use this recipe again!
