I have been cooking for a long time. Although I used to cook mainly to entertain guests and other than that ate fast food my focus over the years completely changed to healthy eating. When I was living in Oklahoma and eating all that Southern Cooking and living a major fast food life. Braums and Sonic were my best friends. I packed on over 80 lbs and developed a chronic pain condition. I had a major gall bladder attack and couldn't eat until it was removed. But somehow through drinking jamba juice, and using my george foreman grill I was able to lose the weight and have never regained it. Interestingly enough, I think I created the Sonoma diet before it became popular - I was already eating that way! It's such a refreshing lifestyle and I DID lose the weight and kept it off.
My favorite things to cook
Seafood, fresh salads, homemade salad dressings, light sauces, Portobello mushroom burgers, anything that is super healthy, decadent and GOOD for you.
My favorite family cooking traditions
TOO MUCH BEEF. I tend not to eat much of it anymore. I tried to go totally vegetarian but I missed some of the meat. So now I balance a little meat with mostly vegetables and seafood.
My cooking triumphs
When I learned to make an entire meal out of vegetables and be satisfied. Secondly, when I was able to satisfy my father - a diehard meat and potatoes fanatic with a roasted veggie platter to the point he asked for more.
My cooking tragedies
I've had a few catastrophies with salad dressing. I'm also a bit of a lousy baker so I tend not to do it much. Then there was the time I cooked a turkey and forgot to take the giblets out........
