Black Hill Ride
About this Cook
I am a grandmother of two beautiful granddaughters and love to ride my motorcycle with my husband. I enjoy canning but I really do not care about the gardening part because of my alergies. I have two beautiful dogs named Buddy and Snickers that keep me company during the winter days.
My favorite things to cook
I really love to bake and have been trying to bake a different cake each week or two.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite time to cook is Thanksgiving but since moving to Kentucky I have not had the chance because we go to my in-laws for the holiday. This year (2008) I will cook my customary Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday for a few family members so that they can see just how I really can cook.
My cooking triumphs
Making my very first carrot cake from scratch with marzipan carrots on top. My father-in-law actually thought they were real carrots.
My cooking tragedies
Teaching my oldest granddaughter how to make a pumpkin pie and forgot to put in the sugar. When we went to eat it it was TERRIBLE!!!!!

Carrot Cake
This receipe was by far the BEST Carrot Cake I have ever made. I made this for my husband to take to work and I actually received an email from one of the women he works with telling me it was the best she has ever tasted. She could not believe it had pineapple. I think that is what makes it so moist and delish!!!!!

Baked Salmon with Tropical Rice
This was a very easy way to fix salmon. I love salmon but get tired of traditional recepies. The tropical flavor was great and reminded me of be back in the Bahamas.

Apple Butter Pork Loin
This dish was GREAT. Made it for my hubby last night and he thought it was really good. Next time I may try the applebutter mixture on butterfly porkchops.
