Victoria Sponge Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
I give this 3 stars for a few reasons. 1 - I wouldn't really consider this a "sponge" cake...2 - as others have said, the cooking time is not quite enough, it does take longer...and 3 - even though there are some issues, it is a very easy cake to make, it has a wonderful flavor and texture, and it can be dressed up in so many ways with powdered sugar, whipped cream, fresh fruit, compote...or any combination.

Chocolate Cheesecake

I really don't like cheesecake, but my husband and kids wanted one, so I made this. OMG! It was easy, beautiful, and it was the first cheesecake I actually LIKED! Thanks :)

Grandma VanDoren's White Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2009
I have several recipes for white bread, and all of them are good, but they all lack something. Either it is too dense or it tastes "old" too fast, or some other thing that keeps me looking for another recipe. I think I have finally found it! This is super simple, especially for someone who enjoys NOT using a bread machine. The taste is phenomenal, and as long as you keep air from getting to it, as you would any other loaf of bread, it remains moist and flavorfull. After it cooled, I gave a piece to each of my kids and my husband, and they all agreed it was the best ever. Thanks for a great recipe!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2008
This was a huge disappointment. The dough is so sticky they are very difficult to roll out well. My kids and I were supposed to be making sugar cookies for Daddy, and they got so discouraged because it just wouldn't "work". They eventually gave up, and I pitched the whole batch of dough (only 1/2 the recipe, thank goodness). We will be trying a different recipe today.

Blue Ribbon White Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2008
This bread was wonderful! It came out beautifully. It is a bit dense, so I'm not sure how great it would be for sandwiches, but that's just my opinion. Others may love it as a sandwich bread. It is, however, the perfect bread for making french toast. It doesn't dry out like some breads can, and holds the flavor well. All in all, this bread was tasty, easy make, and a hit with my husband and kids, so its a winner!
