I started cooking in high school. I would tell my mother to take a night off from cooking and I would take care of dinner. It has been many years since and I still love to cook. I also hardly ever make a recipe exactly as stated, always adding or subtracting something.
My favorite things to cook
Sunday morning breakfast, or just about anything as long as it's not too complicated (just the right ammount of complicated).
My favorite family cooking traditions
I own my own business and my clients have come to expect home baked cookies during the holidays. Come about October, they start to ask what kind of cookies I will be making and actuaally demand certain ones.
My cooking triumphs
I am from New York and my husband is from the South. For our first Thanksgiving together, he was anxiously awaiting cornbread dressing with the turkey. I had never made it but told him I would find a recipe and make it along with my "Yankee Dressing" as he called it. Now he ONLY wants that "Yankee" stuff!
My cooking tragedies
Trying to make chili rellenos. They came out fine, but were a lot of work, messy, and I had just about everypot and pan in the kitchen out.

Super Squash
I have been looking for a different squash casserole than the one I have been making for years & this fit the bill. Changes made (not many) used egg beaters instead (to equal 2 eggs), used crushed pretzels instead of saltines and used jalapeno ranch mix instead of regular. Also added more spices to season (pepper, garlic). Will be making this one again. Thanks.

Chicken and Biscuit Casserole
This was real good. Didn't make too many changes. I didn't have dried basil on hand, so I used dried rosemary instead & used corn instead if peas.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup
I made this almost exactly as stated...except I used 2 packages of McCormack Chicken taco seasoning, 1 can chili beans (no black beans) and 1 can of the diced tomatoes. Used chicken broth instead of beer. And I used already cooked cut up chicken. Did not need to be in the crockpot as long as stated because the chicken was already cooked. Very tasty and hearty.
