Frittata Primavera

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2011
As is this is ok and easy to make. It needs a little something to give it some flavor so I added some Italian seasoning and put fresh basil on top before I baked it. It still needed something after it was done so I then added some fresh chopped tomato on top and then it was a winner.

This is a really great recipe. It's yummy and the fact that you can make it ahead of time is wonderful. This has become a Christmas tradition in our family.

Summer Corn Dip

I was pleasntly surprised with this recipe. The mint and the basil really go well together and it's a good way to use up a bunch of stuff from the garden. It has a very unusual flavor that your guests will love and remember.

Kinda bland for my taste. It needed quite a bit of parmesan to give it flavor.

Baked Zucchini Chips

I added fresh basil and some extra parmesan. They were really good while they were hot, but when they were cooled they lost their crisp and were a little soggy.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

This was great! I added the crumb topping posted by mm425 and added about an extra cup of zucchini. The extra moisture added about 20 minutes to my cooking time.

For a simple recipe, this turned out really good. I added fresh basil on top of the tomatoes and sprinkled with italian seasoning.

Shrimp Durango

I doubled the amount of shrimp, wine, and butter. We like it hot, so I added 1/2 tsp of cayenne. I also added green peppers and some fresh parsley from the garden.

Good flavor, but it wasn't very pretty. For a side I made mashed potatoes with rosemary. Eatting them together I thought the meat could have used some rosemary too.

Hot Pepper Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2009
The title is very misleading, as this is not a "Hot" cheese ball. I highly recommend using a mixer to mix everything and then add items to your taste. Per the other reviews, I reduced the Worcestershire to 1/2 Tbsp. I was out of garlic powder, so I added 1 tsp minced garlic. After many testings I ended up adding 1 tsp horseradish, 1/2 tsp Gator Hammock hot sauce, and 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper. For easier shaping, I shaped the cheese ball in plastic wrap and put it in the fridge so when it came out it was ready to go. It turned out great!

Meat Pie (Tourtiere)

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2008
This had fantastic flavor. I made individual pies for Halloween since I was Mrs. Lovette and my husband was Sweeney Todd. I used a glass to cut the pie crust into the right size for muffin tins and put dough in the tins, put in the meat, and then topped with another piece of dough.

This was fantastic! The only thing I added was extra basil and 1 teaspoon minced garlic. We ate it with grilled cheese and licked our bowls!

Grilled Tuna with Fresh Tomato, Cucumber and Dill Relish

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2008
I used the relish part of the recipe to top crab cakes. It tastes very good, but the relish only needs 1 tablespoon vinegar instead of 2. I used a half tablespoon of balsamic and a half tablespoon of garlic rice vinegar.

Pork Chops with Fresh Tomato, Onion, Garlic, and Feta

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2008
This was fantastic! All of the flavors blend very well together. The directions didn't instruct how long to cook the chops, so after researching I found that for thick chops 4-5 minutes per side was perfect. I did use a meat thermometer to make sure it reached 140 degrees. This recipe really does only take about half an hour, so it's a great quick meal.

Boudreaux's Zydeco Stomp Gumbo

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2008
The flavor was excellent. It had a good amount of spice without any burning sensation. I only put 1 quart of chicken broth in, as I didn't have enough room for more. I used all home grown tomatoes, 2 red hot chili peppers, and 2 green peppers.
