Italian Salad Croutons

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2011
Just what I was looking for. I subbed olive oil for butter and used fresh garlic and some dried out hogie rolls. I am so glad I didn't throw those away. I did have to toss in a little extra olive oil to coat all the bread, I think because the bread was drier than fresh bread it soaked up a little more. Now I just have to quit tasting them before dinner time! I am using them for a salad, but they would be excellent on soup like the author recommended.

The Best Vegetarian Chili in the World

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2006
Very tasty. I did leave out the chili peppers and found it still very spicy (just right). I will be making this again (often).

Quick Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2009
Very good for a basic recipe. I followed the other reviewers and used 2/3 cups of sugar and added cinnamon to the batter. I also put in a dallop of sour cream for moistness. I didn't have brown sugar so I just used white and it was fine.

Dill, Feta and Garlic Cream Cheese Spread

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2007
I used 2 teaspoons of dried dill like others and it turned out great. I was expecting the feta to taste a little stronger, I may add a bit more next time. I will certainly be making this again.

Grandma's Best Ever Sour Cream Lasagna

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2014
Fantastic. I don't like ricotta or cottage cheese so this was perfect. I used ground turkey and turkey sausage. I didn't put the olives in, but if you like them I bet they would be good.

Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2013
Excellent! It doesn't specify, but I would recommend unsalted butter. Parmesan is so salty as is. I had a hard time getting the cheese to melt and incorporate, so I used a stick blender. I don't know if that's "proper", but it sure worked perfectly. It thickened right up and became smooth. We used our sauce on pizza with spinach, chicken and mozzarella.

Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2009
Very Good! I left out the bacon because I didn't have any, but I can see how it would add to the flavor nicely. I also stirred in a bit of sour cream and steamed finely chopped broccoli. I would have given it five stars but it was a bit salty (it would have been more salty with the bacon, I imagine).

Cheese Garlic Biscuits II

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2009
I never have buttermilk, sour cream or shortening on hand, so this is a great recipe that doesn't use those items. My family loved these! I poured in the milk a little at a time until the batter looked right to me, so I used slightly less milk. I like a slightly drier dough so the biscuits don't spread and flatten while baking. The garlic butter brushed on the top was perfect!

Cheesy Drop Biscuits

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2007
These are very easy to make. They are a little heavy, but very good. I added a bit of grated parmesan and a clove of fresh garlic (pressed). I will make these again, especially since I am more likely to have sour cream on hand than buttermilk. Oh I did have to bake them longer than recommended and they never browned, next time I will try a higher temperature.
