Yeast breads and comfort foods during cold weather (which is, like, nine months of the year up here); fresh seafood; and whatever odd vegs turn up in the CSA share.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making far too much food for guests, and holiday meals: pork braised in homemade sauerkraut on New Year's Day - a midwestern tradition that was part of the spousal package deal (he makes the sauerkraut; bonus!) - and oyster or lobster stew on Christmas Eve.
My cooking triumphs
Raising two kids - now teenagers - to be adventurous eaters who try anything and like just about everything.
My cooking tragedies
Well, once when we bought half a beef there was an incident involving the "variety meats." We shall not speak of it.
