Classic Spanish Sangria

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2009
I added apples, strawberries, and pineapple. Doubled the recipe, but used 1/2 the rum (Capt Morgan spiced rum)called for. SO GOOD, we drank every last drop!

Baked Salmon II

Reviewed: May 16, 2008
I used half the oil called for, a little less salt, and this was the best recipe I have found for cooking salmon in the oven! Thank you for sharing it. Delish!

Eggplant -- Easy, Good and Tasty

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2014
Great summertime dish (I think the fresh basil and tomatoes are essential)! Make the changes everyone suggests though.

Green Beans with Almonds and Caramelized Shallots

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2011
Delicious and a great side dish for company. I suggest using 1 T sugar instead of 2, 2 T butter instead of 3. Other than that, perfect!

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2008
It's tough for an Indiana Hoosier fan to give a Purdue Boilermaker a 5 star rating, but THIS RECIPE IS GREAT! I served it for the Super Bowl, and some people had 4 bowls. Modify it if you like, but it's pretty darned perfect as is.

Prize Winning Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2007
My family raves about this recipe! It is foolproof and really tasty. If you like your ribs slightly spicy, I think the ribs should marinate in the rub for a few hours before grilling.

Baked Denver Omelet

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2014
This is excellent and my husband's favorite of all the breakfast casseroles I've tried from Allrecipes. I like adding a little fresh basil chopped. I needed to have 6 servings so used 12 eggs and put the mixture into a 7" by 11" rectangular pan. It was done in about 20 minutes so keep your eye on the pan so it doesn't overcook and dry out.

Slow Cooker Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2007
This recipe was perfect for 17 people on Thanksgiving, and it was a big hit. I made them one day ahead, but forgot to put them in the crockpot in time to heat up before dinner. So I microwaved them out of necessity, and then put them into the crockpot on high. Still great. I used half red and half russet potatoes with skin on. Excellent.

Grilled Fish Steaks

This is the first time I've liked halibut! Great, simple recipe. I used fresh basil (used 1 tablespoon) because I had it on hand.

Salmon Rosemary Burgers

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2014
I love this recipe, and advise cutting back on the bread crumbs. If you use 1/2 cup instead of 1 cup, it tastes more like a burger vs. a salmon pattie. But either way, it's excellent!

Laura's Quick Slow Cooker Turkey Chili

This is a staple in our home. We also use a can of the diced tomatoes in place of one can of tomato soup. Everyone loves it, and the spices are perfect for our taste.

This is so great, I can't believe it. I didn't have any green onion. I doubled the amount of curry. This is really delicious.

Fresh Southern Peach Cobbler

Perfect recipe! If your peaches are good and sweet, I suggest using a little less sugar, both for the topping and with the peaches. Devoured by the family in no time.

Make-Ahead Turkey Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2007
Excellent recipe--a real lifesaver for me this past T-giving! I made this two weeks ahead, put it in the fridge overnight, and then skimmed all the fat off the top. Then I froze it until 2 days before T-giving, and it defrosted perfectly. Then reheated it on the stove and adjusted the seasoning. Thank you so much for providing this great recipe!

Spiced Slow Cooker Applesauce

Excellent recipe. I suggest using less water as this batch was a little too watery. It was perfect with potato latkes! Thank you.

Simple Baked Apples

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2014
I've tried this 2 ways--crockpot and oven. I overcooked it in the crockpot--watch out for mushy apples/applesauce! Used Granny Smith apples for the tartness. This is a lovely dish for cooler temps. I like the addition of vanilla and about 1-2 Tbsp of butter. I used pumpkin pie spice--thanks for a great recipe!
