Grandma Johnson's Scones
Sorry, but these were nothing like scones to me and I followed this recipe exactly. It did not work for us at all. The texture while mixing was so dry I thought they would be inedible because of that. Imagine my surprise when I dug into them and they were very, very dense and almost gummy, after baking for almost 45 minutes! On the inside, mine looked nothing like the picture on this recipe. I will not be making these again, they're going to the birds! I'll return to my tried and true scone recipe that always works and makes wonderful scones. Should have stuck with that, but the rave reviews here made me excited to try them. Sad I wasted all those ingredients!
